It may have been a ratings winner, however, even that's meant to be on the decline. The point is, if the BBC don't actively do something soon, they'll end up showing something that no one will be interested in watching any longer in the UK.

That doesn't make sense. If you're having a Eurovision party, I would assume you'd have the TV on in the background?

They were also earlier in the year last year, and song selection was closer to the main event.
Would the date of the show have an effect on the ratings?
Well the selection show would have been fresher in people minds, and this year was nearer to the summer therefore possibly lighter for longer. It also had a strong opposition in the form of Britain's Got Talent.

No, silly, he means that instead of each person at the party watching one telly each, they are watching one between them.
Anyway, it's the share that's important. Half by the end of the night is excellent.
