Would be nice if, just for once, we could choose a song because it's good, and not because we mistakenly think it will win. It only seems to be us these days who enter the cheesy pop songs, every other country seems to have grown up.
I hear from a rumour that Daz Sampson (Teenage Life) Is wanting to try eurovision for a 2nd time. Oh No!!!!! Mind you was better than Scooch's effort
What song is the kind that you guys would want to see in the Eurovision? My song is a ballad in the same vein as the Lion King - possibly because I wrote it in South Africa
I should get word tomorrow about whether they want to take me into consideration. If they don't, I'll post the song online for anyone if they want to listen to it.
The trouble is that viewers are always told to choose a song they'd think do well at Eurovision (i.e. camp and crap!), but other countries have moved on and a few recent winners don't fit the Eurovision mould at all.
And to be honest - for many years the winners of Eurovision haven't been your stereotypical camp or poor quality songs. Whilst some countries have entered terrible stuff - they haven't usually done well. The quality of the winning songs over the past 10 or 20 years has actually been quite high. May not be to everyone's tastes - and the non-winning entries have often included some dreadful stuff - but the winning stuff has seldom been bad.

I think it should be turned into a completely open contest with the public having a much bigger choice of songs to choose from - then make the selection a mini-Eurovision of it's own with a 2 hour show with 16 songs to choose from - with the show done Eurovision style with minimum padding - just a brief VT introducing each artist, song and that's it!
Just like many other countries do it. Sweden's Melodifestivalen is a prime example. It has 4 heats - each with 8 songs competing - 2 going through to the final and 2 to the second chance round, a second chance round where the 8 second chance songs compete for 2 places in the final, and then the final where the 10 songs compete.
It takes place over saturday nights (sometimes over 5 weeks, with the second chance heat done on sunday as an edited performance rather than live show - though last year was 6 live shows over 6 saturdays)
and the final is usually the highest rated show of the year in Sweden - beating the main Eurovision. It often has higher production values as well...
Today I got sent an e-mail, basically telling me that this year the BBC would not be using my entry. I'll upload it later.
As for the show, the title is confirmed as "Eurovision: Your Decision" and will be broadcast at 1900 on the 1st March. Lucky, as I'm supposed to be in a cabaret night the night before!
