Quite frankly during the results bit I've found him unfunny and very rude - at least Terry Wogan is funny when he's being rude about countries, but the way Graham Norton has been treating the presenters giving the votes it could start a war!

He was the same last year.

Graham was funny. The rest of the world know the UK for its comedy and sarcasm, so it won't come as a surprise. The two commentators were the rude ones. They moaned about what they perceived was political voting, but then when Poland gave the UK 1 point, responded with tuts and by saying "...the number of Polish builders over here..." You can't have it both ways.

I don't mind ol'Kentish Len but Craig Revel-Borewood just irritates me.

OK, my last response was rather quick, but I stand by it.

It smacked way too much of Strictly mixed with a national final. There was no sense of occasion to it, and Garrett murdering Carousel was enough to make me reach for the earplugs. Then Graham started his "oh aren't I funny! A gay, bitchy Irishman" routine which took us through the voting (he obviously doesn't understand the concept of a satellite delay). The ending was passable, but felt like the ending of a Joseph programme.

Some of the camera work was also appalling - was that a technocrane I saw in action? Far too many wobbles and the steadi was visible in shadow quite a few times, as well as crew running around in the background. The set was appalling, what lack there was of it, but the lighting was alright. A live orchestra would have been nice, to give the evening a bit more of a sense of occasion, as well as perhaps more conventional presenters - how many people around Europe would have understood Norton anyway? And what was with the tables around the floor?

The list goes on. I just hope RTP do a better job of the thing next year.

I was really offended by Len and Bruno's comments on the irish dance, calling in tacky and horrible, and at one stage even complaining about the score we gave them, which was exactly the same as the score they gave to Ireland. They even said that the poles had 'No taste in dance' after they gave Ireland 6 Points as opposed to 1 To UK.

Are RTP producing the show or, as the BBC have done in 2007 and this year, simply publishing the Sunset & Vine show into the Eurovision network in 2009?

I find this interesting. I've heard people claim this a lot recently after watching various TV shows (seems there was a sudden surge around the time of the last Celebrity Big Brother) but its not something I have experienced for myself. How did the offence manifest itself? Were you in any kind of physical pain?

From a technical point of view, does anyone know how the offense is transmitted? I was watching on BBC One South East via DSAT and I didn't feel offened. Was the offence flag only broadcast on certain platforms or in certain regions? Can it be broadcast at the same time as teletext for example?

I thought this year's show was a huge improvement on last years, which I seem to remember describing on this very forum as "a bit flat". The atmosphere in Glasgow was much better than in TC1. I slightly agree the set was a bit uninspiring, but I did like the LED backdrops (anyone else notice the green line flashing in the centre screen during the Carousel interval by the way?). Overall, I thought the show was slick and polished, even the green room sequences for commercial break filling were decent. Incidentally, are the BBC the only broadcasters these days who don't insert ad breaks into Eurovision Song and Dance Contests?

In my view, a live orchestra would certainly give the show much more sense of occasion and would please the Eurovision Traditionalists no end Smile I noticed that some of the tracks used were rerecordings, rather than original artists, presuambly fo copyright reasons (including, if I'm not mistaken, the Rolling Stones track used by the UK no less). If they have to use rerecordings, they may as well use a live orchestra and singers as they do for the Strictly Come Dancing format.

Excellent work though - I enjoyed it very much and I look forward to the show returning next year. So RTP producing then? How is the host broadcaster of this event decided then?

I think SVT Sweden are the only other broadcaster in Europe (the World ?) without commercials ?

Actually the Beeb missed a trick there, they could have used the breaks to pack in yet more trailers, as they did this year on Wimbledon and Beijing coverage.

Most pointless programme ever. And from the little I saw, absolutely awful too.

I wouldn't say the most pointless programme ever..

It is pretty naff though and for the BBC to host it just to show off the fact we love dancing in this country thanks to Strictly ... well I don't and I sometimes wish BBC1 would just shut up about it, but, I guess it must be popular.
