The Eurovision Dance Contest WILL return to TV next year as it's now part of the EBU franchise.

Sunset & Vine and Splash Productions produced the show for EBU and the BBC were just the host broadcaster for 2007.

Next year it will stil be a Sunset & Vine and Splash Productions production, and the host broadcaster will be the Finish State Broadcaster (to whom I cannot remember their name). It will be broadcast live on BBC One again from Helsinki.

You can find out more about the Eurovision Dance Contest at http://www.eurovision.tv/addons/dance/ so enjoy!

Oh and The Kids Eurovision Song Contest will be broadcast (hopefully) on ITV2 later on in the year from Cyprus.

No, I think you'll find the BBC are hosting again.

I doubt it, sensibly the UK don't have an entrant.

Just to back that up:
Quote:
The 2007 edition will bring together 16 broadcasters including the BBC, who shall be hosting the production for the first two years.

I rather enjoyed the programme. It reminded me of Ye Olde Eurovision Song Contests of donkeys years ago, restrained, small venue with a sensible number of countries you'd heard of (yeah, yeah, I know it wasn't exactly Western Europe only, but at least there weren't 35 bleedin' sets of votes to sit through...!) TC1 has I think hosted a Eurovision Song Contest or two before, but well back in the mists of time (early 1960s I think...EDIT: Once actually in 1963 according to ESC History). The staging was ok, but there was too much reliance on steadycam whoosing around the stage for my liking. I also found that because the set was relatively dark, yet the stage was relatively bright, I couldn't take much notice of the feet of the competitors - which is probably quite important in a dance contest! Len Goodman was excellent - far funnier than I thought he'd be. Some great comments: "What that's got to do with Holland I don't know ... except being flat" "and another thing ... I didn't like that chap's trousers..."

Anorak that I am, I missed seeing the broadcaster's logos during the satellite link up score-giving bit. However, the results sequence didn't seem as tortuous as the ESC has become.

I thought a missed opportunity for the interval act though ... why couldn't one of the prizes for the winning dance troupe of Dance X have been to perform at the first Eurovision Dance Contest in front of millions of viewers across Europe blah blah... better than Iglesias singing IMO.

Such a shame that there wasn't room for a live orchestra/singers like on Strictly Come Dancing - now that for me, would have been everything and would have given the show a really special edge.
