A thread for the other contests. Choir. Young Dancer and Junior Eurovision.

Saturday sees the second edition of Eurovision Choir taking place at the Partille Arena, Gothenburg, Sweden, SVT being the host broadcaster. BBC Alba (Scotland) and S4C (Cymru Wales) are taking part.

One of the hosts is BBC Radio 3 Breakfast Presenter Petroc Trelawny.

There seems to be a small resurgence in interest in the UK for these non-ESC shows (and high time too in my opinion). The JESC never really took off in the UK and after a couple of years worth of entering it disappeared and hasnโ€™t come back. (It was decidedly odd seeing ITV present a Eurovision show).
Hosting the Young Musicians last year in Edinburgh and now Scotland and Wales competing in Choir of the Year is definitely a step in the right direction.

Choir 2019 -
Outcome with Spoiler blockers for those who want to watch .....

The ten choirs performed a short selection, then the jury panel of top musicians were tasked to reduce the field to three.
Choirs from Latvia, Denmark and Slovenia . The entries from BBC Alba and S4C beng eliminated went through to the final.
The finalists then each performed a more extended repertoire piece.

The winners were a Choir from
Denmark 2nd Latvia 3rd Slovenia

AIUI the production team in Gothenburg producing this year's Eurovision Choir of the Year is from the UK
The S4C feed is around 2 mins behind I believe.

Looked to me like the S4C feed was timeshifting quite heavily.

Just found the press kit ....

Seems the whole event was on a delay ....

See this explanation ....

Deferred Start time
โ€ข Live show begins at 20h00 CEST/Gothenburg
โ€ข Transmission begins at 20h30 CEST (30 minute deferred)
โ€ข During jury deliberations, c. 25โ€™ of off air content (European Choir Games) is cut
โ€ข At the time of the results announcement the broadcast will be c. 5โ€™ deferred
NOTE: Since the defer is small and the broadcast is simultaneous with the live event, the term โ€˜live
broadcastโ€™ is used throughout the EBU literature.

Clever but one hell of a live edit job being done by the production team, with the broadcast output catching up the actuality as the 112 minutes were broadcast.

Oh its DVB Cornwall, I thought for a moment Tumble Dryer had graced us with his presence. But then he hasn't posted about Junior Eurovision since 2010 so...

In fact now I've wrote this he'll be along shortly I have no doubt.
