I think I’m going to join in with this. I can’t quite remember that year’s or the winner so it could be a good one. Unless the person who announced it was a clue.
BBC have scheduled Eurovision: Come Together at 18:30-20:00 on Saturday 16 May, meaning they could show Europe Shine a Light straight after it on BBC One where 20:00-22:00 is currently TBA.
22:00 on BBC Two is "The A-Z of Eurovision" followed by a repeat of a TOTP2 Eurovision special.
Perhaps they have changed their mind. It could certainly air on BBC2 or BBC4 if not BBC1 - don't get why anybody would turn down effectively free content at the moment.
There's a Eurovision special of Pointless Celebrities in the can as well, so it looks like they are making a night of it on BBC1 from 17:40, moving to BBC2 at 22:00.
I hope that it pans out that it will be a full night of it, it’s the type of light entertainment that we all need right now, plus it helps to fill the schedules!
Well I'm very pleased and surprised. I guess their schedule holes were starting to look bigger and bigger and they realised it would be ludicrous to turn down what would almost certainly be better than their own show!

Or the earlier 'iPlayer only' news was a mistake and / or based on incomplete plans?
Remember when the BBC didn't take the 50th Anniversary special because they thought it was "too remote" for a British audience despite being named after a UK entry and hosted by a UK winner?
