So it seems likely that Your Decision won’t happen next year and the act will be internally decided.

Getting a major label on board is likely to bring a more relevant and competent artist to the mix, though I’m sure we still won’t get anyone ‘well known’ given the potential to be make or break depending on how well (or most likely badly) we do.

It’s good to see the BBC take a different approach. Considering how successful this is ends up being, it could pave the way for a more currently known artist to represent the UK in a few years time.

To me it feels like it may well be the final roll of the dice for the BBC and that failure for this format by 2023/2024 will be it.
And then watch the EBU finally bring in the must be publicly chosen rule that is always been rumored to be coming in for the next contest.

Eurovision rates too well and very cost effective for the BBC to give up on it.

Always been rumoured? You’re having a laugh. For some broadcasters that just isn’t financially viable - it’s not realistic.

It's not the first time that the British Eurovision entry hasn't been chosen by the public isn't it?

What concerns me with this idea is that BMG will almost certainly skew this in favour of one of their stable being the artist. Another issue could be throwing a new artist to the dogs with a song needing a strong presentation and the artist being un-tested in anything remotely like a high pressure environment.

I hope these issues have been thought through and that sufficient oversight of BMG in their part of the process is given.

And that’s a bad thing?

Just suggesting that it's open to favouritism and I'm hoping that the BBC's agreement with BMG doesn't preclude other non BMG acts from getting approached and with a fair chance of winning the 'gig' too.

Surely the entire point of this agreement is that a BMG act represents us. Why else do you think they’re involved?

Eh? Well yes, that's the whole point. And it's undeniably a good thing.
