They did put the excerpt up from last night and commented the full version couldn't be posted due to "technical issues". Given the excerpt was pretty bad, I take it they used today's rehearsal performance instead.

I don't really like the producers picking the running order through. Not sure the precieved improvement in the context is worth the issues about bias and favoritism.

Given the ratings vs cost - and popularity of the contest, I think this is VERY unlikely to happen. The BBC is a major EBU partner, and is currently represented on the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group. Things would need to change seismically in the way the BBC operates for them to leave the contest .

Mostly agree, through the threat of changes could see the BBC thinking dropping Eurovision might mean they can keep something else in the renegotiation.
The contest being held in Russia one year is another risk.

When I say seismic changes - I mean changes of the order of magnitude that would see the BBC having to axe/sell off Radios 1, 2 and 5Live and BBC Two and Four (even then, the low cost-per-hour of ESC compared to a mainstream Saturday night show would still mean it was good value), or a charter renewal that prohibits the BBC from competing with ITV on popular entertainment shows like Strictly.

I'm not sure what 'renegotiation' you are talking about.

The negotiation of the next charter - or a new government ripping up the current one before 2027.

Curious as mentioned on Tuesday with the feed cutting out at exactly 22:10 as if the booked slot had ended on the BBC’s link, presumably it’s not as simple as them having a satellite dish on-site at the BBC HQ/playout downlinking the EBU satellite feeds directly?

Finally had chance to catch up on this. If it happened dead on 22:10 then we can probably guess the reason but it's a shame that BBC Four stayed on black and then a silent breakdown slide for a good length of time. No easy way to play out a recorded message? Or given it's a rare live event for a major channel, have a prerecorded announcement specifically for that scenario?

Makes you wonder if they still have generic apology/"now for something extra" style announcements ready? Bit like how Radio 1 made every DJ do an apology and serious "now here's Newsbeat" message!

Or an announcment to link into a newsflash in case of a story serious enough to intrupt BBC4 (Massive Terror attack or Category A death)

By the way, technical anorak on.
(this may have been asked before in the previous 80 pages, so sorry if it has)

Where is this programme (comms sound mix, UK specific graphics- and UK jury votes announcer stand up position) being put together for/by the BBC? Is it still IMG at Stockely Park, or a spare BBC Studioworks gallery at Elstree?

And if it is a production, using a facilities outside of the BBC - how many other Eurovision broadcasters do a similar thing? I've always had the image in my head, that most - if not all - of the jury marks announcers are in the main studio facilities owned and operated by that countries broadcaster.

Just watched some of the RTE Coverage from last night on AppleTV, which maybe I'm not supposed to have, but their HD catchup is impeccable quality. Very Impressed,

I dare say they are plans for how BBC4 will be interrupted if it has to be.
