Presumably the dress rehearsal tx, is running on a server in the broadcast compound alongside the live Saturday Tx?

Which begs the question - why didn't the didn't the director of this year's contest crash to the back-up when the protestor got on stage during the UK performance, stayed with the vt until song end?

Does the show run on a TX delay at all? I was there on the night , very close to the front in the golden circle, and the invader was on and grabbing the mic before any of us realised something was happening. With all the lights flashing and certain parts of the stage in darkness, he was stage front very fast. Perhaps they didn't realise it was all going wrong until it was too late?

I think the on-site backup replay is more for use in case of a major failure in the truck (so is running downstream of the truck), so there may not be and additional copy running in sync in the truck too (and you really don't want it to be easy to cut to if it is)

No - the only delay is caused by distribution coders and decoders. There is no delay on-site for editorial purposes.

I'd agree with this, having also been present in the Altice on the night, albeit in the grandstands. The first I knew of an issue was someone booming something about the United Kingdom over the PA system. For what was probably 2 seconds max, but felt much longer, there was a "what happens now?" mentality until the crowd collectively just decided to keep on singing the song, enabling SuRie to pick it back up.

I think the recordings are generally run locally at each national gallery. Even the semis can do this as the content between rehearsal and broadcast only differs after the return from the final ad break for the Big 5 Chat. Likewise, all talent leaves the Green Room at the interval and stand-ins perform the Douze Points reaction shots for the fake voting. Interestingly, most broadcasters also use a stand-in to deliver their fake Douze Points, but some didn’t; notably the Netherlands, who still had all three members of O'G3NE in situ on the Friday night.

I was Golden Circle for semi rehearsals and sat front and centre behind the Green Room for the grand rehearsal, although I was in the grandstands for broadcast - that said you couldn't put a cigarette paper between the two "performances." Virtually identical.

I'm sure DVB will have the news if it does break today, but lots of suggestions we're getting the announcement later on. Quite a few people "in the know" I've spoken to say it's 21/23/25 May in Tel Aviv.

With the ramping up of Tweets in the last hour, I'd say we're imminent.

I’d have preferred it earlier. Less chance of me having an exam running into one of the semis,

Well .... It's NOT sorted ..... Official

This must be one of the latest years to announce the date and location ?
Of course it’s not as simple this year as who has the best facilities with this decision - but looking at geopolitical and religious issues and seeing if risks can be taken and compromises found.

We're four months in and the venue still hasn't been decided. I think even Ukraine had decided on their venue by now and look at all the problems encountered later down the line for them.

Even the BBC haven't announced yet if the UK will take part yet or not. I'm guessing they're waiting to see if Jerusalem will be the chosen venue or not and decide from then. If there's pressure being put on the EBU by the Big 5 then I guess they're going to have to weigh up all the options.

I think Ukraine were September 9th. I remember fans being pissed off because they had them waiting that long only to decide the most obvious city in the end after a lot of promotion.

The BBC never usually announces the UK taking part until the list of entires comes out,
Chances of the BBC pulling of this year are virtually nill. Too politically toxic for them to be involved in any boycott not supported by all other broadcasters just because it’s in Jerusalem.
