I can see the ebu worse nightmare, Russia winning, its a good song but the country is possibly too toxic for the UK to participate in next year.

Here you go again. Just like how the World Cup was boycotted last year. Money > Principles every single time when it comes to world events.

Grr. Albania North Macedonia, Norway all qualified. Albania in Particular is a rival to Slovenia for worse song of the contest.
Thew at Malta being the last to be called.
I was disappointed by the UK's preview.
Scott Mills sounds like he is starting to become disillusioned with the contest.

Are Avrotros/NPO really wanting to host it next year? Who would actually be responsible for hosting due to the way NPO is set up? Would it fall to Avrotros or NPO?

I'd assume it might be something like 2011 in Germany, with NDR as the organiser for ARD?

You can’t really argue with the 20 qualifiers, one of the few years where the dross has been almost fully eliminated by the semi system. It’s a great final line up.

The Netherlands has one of the best vocals of the contest but the staging didn’t scream winner tonight. I can’t see past an Australian win now. I honestly thought it would be non qualifier a few months ago but her performance on Tuesday was very strong.

Malta was a real surprise tonight and could do very well on Saturday alongside the Czech Republic, Switzerland and of course Slovenia’s exceptional song.

I think Ireland or Austria must have come last tonight, both their worst entries in some years.

I've heard a few times over the two semi finals the presenters plug that 'KAN' is 'Israel's Public Broadcaster.' Outside of Israel are folk going actually bother who KAN are?

Eurovision doesn't make the BBC any money and not many others really earn from it.

More likely Ireland than Austria.

But yet the BBC remain one of the biggest contributors to the contest, so how does that one work then under your logic?

Don’t confuse being part of the big 6 with contributing towards the song contest, the BBC pay a lot of money to the EBU for things such as sports rights/highlights.

I thought the Big 5 status actually comes from the broadcasters EBU funding rather than the participation fee paid directly for the contest.
And even then Russia's broadcaster contributes more than Spain's one - a long running gripe Russia have.
The BBC probably does earn indirectly in it being a cheaper 3.45 hours of primetime Saturday night than a light entertainment show and an episode of casualty.
