I really don't want Russia to win because then the UK will quite possibly withdraw and once we withdraw once will the BBC be as interested in returning.

Good grief.

The way it's going the BBC are far more likely to have to withdraw if an EU country hosts than Russia at the moment.

Just like how we boycotted the world cup last year then?

They were a lot of calls. And Eurovison is a lot less serious and less stakeholders willing to complain.

That’s quite honestly delusional. There was also calls for withdrawal this year because of it being held in Israel! They didn’t withdraw this year and they won’t if that happens either.

I’m sure the BBC have said they won’t let politics interfere with their participation in a song contest.

Russia is a lot different. They may be calls from the Family of Dawn Struggess and the government will is unlikely to completly opposed.

I think, if that actually would happen (even though I also think it's very very unlikely), ITV or C4 would be very happy to send a entry.

Especially C4 would might tie up with S4C and send a Welsh language entry one year - something I doubt the BBC will be willing to do. Or an entry in a language other than English.

We really should stop entertaining BM11's delusions. If we're not careful he'll end up the US President.

I've sent several RTPs but they've fallen on deaf ears. Best thing to do is not feed the troll.

Now, here's a thought. With Sweden now on course to match Ireland's record (John's Melfest landslide was bigger than either Loreen or Mans) I can see a scenario where Sweden win or at worst do very well, but the UK, with a song written by the same guy, does very badly.

Is this going to be a "watershed moment" and finally questions might be asked outside the hard-core fan base about the BBC's selection process? The problem is the UK fans are being dismissed as "they're only whinging because it's not Melodifestivalen" - we've seen that on here.

I think there'll be a big gulf in production values.

Ref. Russia... The song didn't match up to the hype and that was immediately obvious on Betfair Exchange yesterday afternoon, with it making no attempt to overtake the Dutch song.

I think once again we're going to see a kitchen sink of a staging, but like in 2016 the juries will punish it for basically trying too hard. There's a whiff of desperation and it's not pretty.
