But they stopped revealing the SPOTY vote figures last year, didn't they? (The 2017 show being the final one in which they revealed them, I mean - they did not reveal them for the 2018 show)

Correct. Last year was the first Sporty where the results were gagged. The excuse that it protects the celebs and/or judges is used for Strictly but that somehow is not a problem for ITV which release it for Dancing on Ice.

But Dancing On Ice is not a very nice programme, the presence of Jason Gardiner illustrates that. I don't know what you gain from finding out who comes bottom on Strictly, it's a bit of harmless light entertainment where people are having a nice time.
It's not about finding out who finished bottom, it's about finding out how the final 4 placed after months of watching them. I suspect the contestants themselves would like to know where they placed as well.
As for Dancing on Ice, it's got plenty of flaws at the moment but Jason Gardener isn't one of them. He's mellowed signficantly and as is usually the case the most critical judge is generally the most constructive too. The only person he ripped into this year was Gemma Collins, and god, she deserved it. And the week after too I think he gave her the highest score of all the judges, so fair's fair.

I am suprised to be honest that the BBC is not obliged to reveal all voting details where the public may have paid directly to participate

The only reason ITV figures are released is because of the Soapstar Superstar debacle. Ofcom fined them nearly 6m due to ignoring the public votes most of the series. Pretty sure it was an OFCOM recommendation.

Should apply to BBC as they didn't escape unscathed from that whole scandel

I don't think any involved premium rate voting. Ofcom had very little control over BBC regulation at the time anyway.
But the manipulation on SS was extraordinary and many alarm bells were ignored by senior ITV bosses hence the 6m fine and recommendation.

BREAKING NEWS: Ukraine will not participate in Tel Aviv, but UA:PBC/NTU will still broadcast the programme. More to follow...
It is with sadness that we can confirm that Ukraine’s broadcaster, @UAPBC, has informed the EBU that, following further discussions, they have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. We hope to see them again in 2020.https://t.co/bYOWWbSTZz
Good. The reason the acts refused to do it was because they were being forced to act as government mouthpieces and thus refused to sign the contract - quite rightly too. If the broadcaster is trying to involve politics in this, then they should've been kicked out anyway.

With Russia likely to be favourite once all the songs are out that is not likely.
I can’t see Ukraine ever returning as they going down the route of banning even the mention of Russia (and the likely new president backs these policies). Sport will be the next issue where it could end up like how Iranians boycot Isreali’s at the olympics for example.
