Boring - didn't work with Timberlake and it won't work with Madonna. The interval is supposed to be about showcasing something that wouldn't get airtime in Europe otherwise, not giving international popstars a platform.
Id much rather personally if they treated the interval as a Half-Time show rather than have what we have had previously. Apart from RiverDance are there any other standouts?

I think it should be about the host country's modern side.
Like why not have Netta performing her latest song instead of Madonna trying too hard to be young when she doesn't realise her time in the spotlight is almost fading.
Timberlake was more memorable than last years ... er ... what *was* last years interval act? In the ever evolving song contest, why shouldn’t the interval feature a world class artist?
The nice thing was how Timberlake was completely upstaged by ‘Love Love Peace Peace’ a few minutes later!
The Swedes were able to realistically tie in Timberlake’s performance by showing the great video of Swedish contributions to pop music before it and highlighting how his new song was written by a Swede. The whole thing was subsequently devalued by Timberlake’s confession that he’d never heard of Eurovision beforehand despite him lying on the broadcast by saying he’d been a fan of Eurovision for a number of years.
The other odd thing was how his performance was blocked in the US on the LogoTV showing of the final. For some reason the song, possibly due to it being from the ‘Trolls’ film, couldn’t premiere on a cable channel!

If you're going to have a "name" then either a major Israeli artist or a major success story from the show would make more sense. I had a dream Celine Dion did it last night, oddly.
That said, having Madge on stage at halftime will pull in more viewers in the way Timberlake did.
I would agree the interval shows have been a bit hit and miss recently though, apart from the Nordics who always do this stuff well - 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2016 are standouts for me.
On that note, is there some sort of special camera or camera filter SVT use? I notice there's always a kind of softish "glow" effect on the picture of MF, which also presented itself on the output of the Stockholm Eurovision in 2016.

Salvador sang a new song then did a version of his winning song with some old geezer who I assume is big in Portugal. I watched it at the Jury Final and just thought "seriously?" Then some Fado act came on and I just went to the bar!
Oh and he couldn't help but make a snide comment about "bringing real music to Eurovision." Talented guy but, ugh.
For the most part I thought RTP did a fairly decent job but the voting window was tedious in the extreme. I have never drunk so much Super Bock in 40 minutes in my life.

Understandably KAN are keen to have Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) involved in some capacity. She’s undoubtedly the most famous Israeli personality in the media currently. Expect a filmed insert.

AIUI that wasn't the reason.
The reason Logo got a repeat of a SemiFinal interval act (played out from the backup OB truck I believe) instead of Timberlake was far simpler.
Because Logo were acquiring the show rather than licensing it as competing EBU members who were contributing to the show and taking part, they would have had to pay a LOT more for Timberlake, and being a small cable channel they couldn't afford that cost.
Timberlake's rights deal no doubt ensured he would earn a lot from a third-party sales deal...

Given Wonder Woman's referencing in Toy, it's probably highly likely!
