I imagine the EBU are terrified of Russia winning in the coming years because then they will be withdrawals - the BBC would have to think long and hard for a start.

Lol, no they wouldn't.

Politically it might be quite offensive to go to Russia and do a light entertainment contest while they hiding murderer's of a British citizen,

They don't seem to be hiding them...

In the same way there was with the biggest football tournament in the world? We managed to negotiate that one without too much difficulty. There would also be attention given to LGBT issues in the country, which would be no bad thing.

Please stop trying to stir up drama / crises, it’s getting quite dull. If you want to there are other forums better suited to that.

Quite, as Simon MccCoy said of the suspects interview:

“Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov there, who are very keen on steeples.”

We managed to do that one by not sending members of the royal family and other diplomats as was originally intended, along with FIFA warning them that if anything happens Russia will be banned from future contests.

Could the EBU do the same? Somehow I doubt they hold as much political/monetary sway as FIFA and it's not like we send the royal family and diplomats to the contest.

I think we would manage it just fine, but lets not act like there wouldn't be a lot of calls with withdraw, especially there was large events happening politically around the time of the contest.

The BBC have this morning confirmed our participation in Tel Aviv. You can stop asking now.

They've also confirmed You Decide returns for a 4th year and once again entries are being crowd sourced:

Can we try not to arse this up just for one year?

'Eurovision - Australia Decides' puts you in charge of finding our 2019 Eurovision entry.

We can confirm that Australia is participating in the 64th Eurovision Song Contest held in Tel Aviv, Israel next May; and this year, we want your help to select the artist and song who will represent Australia in the world's biggest stage.

SBS and production partner Blink TV, will host a national contest, Eurovision - Australia Decides, to select the artist and the song that will compete at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019.

Eurovision - Australia Decides will take place on the Gold Coast in February 2019 in a series of live performance shows on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 February, and a Live Show will be broadcast exclusively on SBS on Saturday 9 February, during which voting will be open to the public.

Such a shame really as they've turned things around with their amazing performances and results.
I do hope they make a comeback in 2020 or soon.

I agree. If Love Was A Crime was one of the strongest entries of the last few years without a doubt. It's also a great shame because I don't think a trip to Sofia was that far off, and their production of JESC 2015, hosted by the singer of ILWAC, Poli Genova, was excellent.

Numerous articles online saying KAN wish to reinstate the LED screens, and have been highly critical of Lisbon's stage.

Am I alone in thinking the set design in Lisbon was really good?

Yeah, I liked the design of Lisbon's stage too.
Very nautical themed like the overall theme of the show, "All Aboard"
