Was that perhaps the best semi final in years? Really enjoyable despite the 13min overrun.

Ireland going through with Ryan O'Shaugnessy to Saturday's grand final is great news. I didn't really expect that result tbh. I hope that he does really well by having a great performance for Saturday's final in Lisbon.

Ireland song came alive being sung live (compared to recording I've heard). Didn't care for the choreography though.

Presentation by the four women was poor. Two too many.

So we can vote by phone and the app. but yet we still can't text vote...Surprise surprise. Was app voting available to the UK last year?

Yes - App voting has been available in the UK since the EBU engineered an app that dialled the mobile shortcode for the UK. Can't remember if we started being able to app vote in 2014 or 2015 (but pretty certain we couldn't in 2013).

No IP or SMS voting in the UK - just phone calls. (Not sure what the app does in other countries)

Yes, app voting was available last year.

Which in effect sends a text via the app does it not?

No - it dials the mobile short code phone number and makes a call.

This is bizarre. Planet Portugal with David Attenburger? Nice BBC rip off Portugal.

Would’ve thought they had permission so not really a rip off

That was close enough to pastiche to almost certainly not require permission in most countries.

Whilst previewing what is to come on Thursdays show there was a technical glitch with Slovenias‘ preview and I guess they played out the wrong package.

That was during the BBC opt-out and looked to be intentional.

I gather Slovenia's act including a fake technical breakdown. God knows how that'll translate to the viewers at home.

No doubt the BBC will put up the caption
'This performance contains flashing and strobing images and a false techincal breakdown'

Actually, I'm guessing that the EBU/Eurovision head office overlords will issue an advisory to the broadcasters via the delegations before tomorrow evening, advising them that it's fake glitch, and not to yank the show off the air locally, at the first sign of picture breakups or dummy satellite/fibre testcards?

They'll have all seen the rehearsal surely.

And if they somehow haven't, it's the jury semi tonight.
