Weren't the jokes partly written by some Brits? Unfortunately the hosts weren't able to deliver the jokes successfully. The third presenter Timur was being characterised as a geeky Eurovision superfan and I could see he was trying to be that character in his delivery but it fell flat as a pancake.
I think judging from the opening film and the theme art Ukraine's definition of 'diversity' might be a little different from ours. I think they were going more for the confluence of old traditions with modern culture as opposed to skin colour, sexual orientation etc, i.e. what we know it as.
What did Portugal eventually end up getting points wise? After they announced the votes for Bulgaria they announced that Portugal had won it without saying what they got in the televote...
They said "but we still have 376 points for Portugal which means Portugal is the winner".
Hosting Eurovision is a thankless task but there have been far worse than last night.
As for presentation I personally preferred the stage to last year. Graphics were nice enough but nothing revolutionary, but I did think the show was lacking a soundtrack. The last couple of years had a quite distinctive theme, one of which sounded like an evolution of the other.
