Well it would be unfair to judge Russia's behaviour just on that one incident, but they do have to go......
I think the EBU do need to basically insist that a county needs to have some sort of fair democratic political system, freedom of the press, etc. - there are many nations, notably Azerbaijan, that most certainly don't have the latter.
How you'd police that and where you'd draw the lines in the sand (no pun intended) is another question entirely of course!

I think this sums up the build-up quite well...

I’m returning to the show as Head of Production. This is normally a job that you start with a couple of weeks after you’ve won Eurovision. But due to circumstances that I don’t necessarily want to describe here, I didn’t hit the ground running until mid January 2017, so, seven months behind schedule on the first day at work.
I’m gonna be quite honest with you, with the creative ambition of this show, and the time frame given to me and my team, this is nothing but mission impossible and a suicidal task.

Good to hear he's back. So he was one of the people probably parachuted in when those mass resignations at NTU happened.
I'm glad he's in a senior role. Whilst I'm sure it'll be a massive comedown from Stockholm, fingers crossed that with a couple of SVT Big Dogs on board, we still get a good show. To be fair to the hosts, they don't seem that bad. Certainly are capable of being funny.

Well that counts us out for a start.....
Do explain. We have a vote, and the majority rules. I do understand that there are some people over the last year who've struggled to grasp that concept.
Anyway, take this with a few doses of salt but there is still a chance we might not be going to Kyiv...
I think it's highly unlikely they will move (the entire contest being pulled is more likely and I don't think there's really a chance of that). However, I can see the advantage of having a plan B ready to go (in theory) in order to put more pressure on Ukraine.
I've forgot to mention that the EBU have launched the Eurovision Choir of the Year, initially with 7 countries, but it's only in the past week that Wales will also participate with S4C.

Good to have him back. With Bjorkman and him we're in safe hands.
I have to say for all Ukraine's faults so far, the stage looks pretty good. Certainly it looks better than the Vienna one did. That made the arena look tiny on TV.
And from what I've seen of the presenters, they look like they have a personality and natural humour. Again, the trio in Vienna really didn't work in that respect. They appeared a bit "detached".
All in all, Vienna was a massive downgrade from Malmo and Copenhagen. Stockholm is an impossible act to follow but it's what comes out of the TV that matters.
