It's been postponed before, in 1977 when the United Kingdom hosted. That, however, was due to a BBC technician's strike. If it went ahead in the Autumn that has further knock-on effects, such as the winner having far less time to get their ducks in a row in order to host the following May.
However, rigging has already begun at the IEC.
Russia want to win on Ukranian soil. That's what this boils down to. Channel One should select another artist or withdraw. Ukraine are merely observing the law of their land. Maybe if Channel One hadn't sent such a desperate attempt to copy Mans Zelmerlow, they'd have won.

That Sand video is from 22nd March, when the issue came to a head. I'm expecting more from the EBU on Monday, once Deltenre's letter gets a formal response, no such response has afaik been made.
I'm pretty sure that this mire is likely to cost Sand his position in the long run, the acceptance of the Ukrainian entry last year, which as overall supervisor he had the final say, becomes even more naive and less tenable as the days go by. Quite who'll succeed him though is difficult. Both his able deputies, Vladislav Yakovlev and Sietse Bakker have moved on.
An almighty mess.

The Ukraine act always seemed to tip-toe very cleverly down a tightrope of overtly being a historical song, while having an underlying message about what's going on right now. And then in the week before press came out where Jamala was reported to have said that it obviously had something to do with what was going on more recently. That perfect PR treatment and a very slick stage show tells me very clearly that Ukraine aren't some naive little victims here, they're just as capable of playing the game as Russia.
It's too late to take it away from Ukraine, and there are people high enough up such as Bjorkman who can run the show and ensure it doesn't crash. But ultimately you're giving several hours of live TV to a country you've just bollocked and threatened with all sorts of sanctions in future years.
Good luck everybody.

Not that it's relevant right now - but if Australia wins, the contest still has to be held in Europe. They would work with a local broadcaster (e.g. SVT in Sweden) but the Contest would be "hosted" by Australia. Or something.
last year's runner up was Australia and thus isn't an option.

Yes this was raised when they first competed, I believe I read they would partner with Germany.

I'd say Bjorkman will almost certainly get the gig.

I've never read a definitive source for the idea that SBS would use ARD as co-host. If anything, I would almost certainly think they would pair up with the BBC. The connections of language, culture, heritage, history etc. the two nations have make it the obvious choice.
In any case, I think SBS would almost certainly buddy up with one of the Big Five. Or have a collaborative effort - for example, the BBC are strong technically, SVT are without equals creatively - it'd be an excuse to do a "super-Eurovision" in the truest sense without a country with far too much money willy-waving because they can.

According to SBS Ukraine's PM has come out fighting ....
In an angry row ahead of the kitsch song contest in May to be hosted in Kiev, Ukraine has barred Russia's 27-year-old singer Yuliya Samoilova over illegally entering Moscow-annexed Crimea for a 2015 performance.
Eurovision organisers, the Geneva-based European Broadcasting Union (EBU), have sought to find a compromise but have so far been rebuffed by both sides.
"It is unprecedented and unacceptable to demand such extraordinary decisions from Ukraine for the sake of Russia," Deputy Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kyrylenko said in comments released by his office on Saturday.

Pretty sure this was just rumoured rather than fact.

I don't think many people would put Sietse Bakker in the frame to Executive Produce... He's got no TV production background - and went from running a fan website to running the ESC website, to running a PR company that worked for the EBU.
He was very lucky to survive the corruption investigation that caused the resignation of one of his close press-team colleagues (who was discovered to be lobbying against certain entries), and his PR company's role was diluted more recently, with a UK company brought on-board to assume some responsibilities that previous fell to Sietse's company.
He's a huge fan of the ESC - but that doesn't qualify you to Exec it. Recent Execs (Svante, Jon Ola) have usually been execs of a successful contest - though there isn't a high turnover in the role.
Christer would be a more obvious choice, but AIUI the reality is that the other Execs at SVT on MF and the ESC have done most of the heavy lifting. Christer is very much a figurehead figure...
