It's all about the promotion these days. It'll be great to see who comes into this year's BBC show. Hope it's not the current winner, can't bear it. Be good if they got a classic winner, though that 60 years show the BBC hosted didn't rate well at all.

To answer your question entertainment will be provided by Alexander Rybak, winner in 2009, and very oddly The Vamps. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever why The Vamps will be performing.

To be honest, you could say the same about Justin Timberlake in Stockholm...

Re The Vamps, the BBC could do no better than hand over song selection to their production team Joe O'Neill and Prestige, at least they know what they're doing, unlike the mess that they drag up each year.

I did say so at the time. I was there, no one was interested in his performance no one remembers it now. He'd no place at "Euro Vision".

What a load of rubbish. The production on all of those songs is utterly hopeless and none of them are catchy or mature enough to do well. Some real banality in the lyrics and they aren't much cop musically, either. We're back at mid-00s level with these, IMHO, after promise in 2014-16, albeit unfulfilled promise.

I'll watch along on Friday, but I don't think we've a hope in hell. A real disappointment.

BTW, was there a public entry this year, like there was (to great fanfare) last year? Or was it just a closed shop?

Meanwhile tickets for Kiev still have yet to go on sale, less than four months before the contest - no date for availability has been given either. For the last few years it's been late November/early December time.

So the expert panel on Friday night will be Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Bruno Tonioli and vocal coach CeCe Sammy. They will comment on the potential staging and presentation of the songs. As regards the voting the winner will be selected via the combination of a public televote, consisting of televoting and online voting, and the votes of a professional jury panel. Therefore something similar to what is used at Eurovision. I think this is the first time that a professional jury has been used.

Some interesting - one might say "brave" - design decisions on the webpage for BBC Two's "You Decide" presented by Mel Giedroyc.

There were all crap, mind you it doesn't matter we'll get 0 points because of brexit. I saw just put bucks fizz back in.

If only last years runner up was in this years competition instead. It's still in my head now unlike last years winner, which I wrongly thought was the best choice going into the contest.

Probably just a slightly more expensive way to lose.
