There were a few satellite delays and of course the two or was it three drop outs.
I agree that the announcing of scores 8, 10 & 12 has shortened the time.

Is it ever announced how many votes each country casts? I'd just wonder if it is more popular in some countries than others.

What drags the whole thing is the ludicrous "What a wonderful show" nonsense that most countries seem to insist on relaying as part of their turn. Time was when you simply said "Hello xxx, this is Brussels calling with the votes of the Belgian jury..." Colin Berry used to go off script slightly by adding "BBC London calling" ... But that was about it.

The satellite delay isn't too horrendous. And the BBC remain one of the few to try and keep the voting brisk. Nigella played it up a bit - but avoided the toe-curling stuff.

The satellite voting is part of the fun - the jeopardy of losing the links, seeing how the hosts interact with the spokespeople etc.

In the UK at least the voting usually out rates the performances.

Yes - people watch for the voting. For many it's the best bit!

I don't think Digame or the EBU release vote volume details.

If they did, it would open up an argument towards weighting votes cast, an un-necessary can of worms. Best kept hidden. Additionally it would open up obvious countries to hit with nefarious voting too.

Is anybody from here going to Sweden next year to watch Eurovision live?

Here's an update on the cities and venues that are considering applying to host ESC 2016. SVT sent out the host city portfolio along with the necessary requirements to the interested cities and venues yesterday. The following venues have stated an interest in hosting the contest:

Friends Arena (Stockholm) -65,000 capacity
Tele 2 Arena (Stockholm) - 45,000 capacity
Ericsson Globen Arena (Stockholm) - 16,000 capacity
Göransson Arena (Sandviken) - 10,000 capacity
Scandinavium (Goteborg) - 14,000 capacity
Saab Arena (Linköping) - 11,500 capacity
Malmö Arena (Malmö) - 15,400 capacity

It had originally been suggested that Malmö wouldn't bid, however a spokesperson for the Arena confirmed that they may bid. SVT have stated that their preference would be for Tele 2 Arena.

I agree the Tele 2 should have the best chance. Friends is too big and the only genuine alternatives have already hosted the contest in the recent past.

Doubt the EBU will allow Friends, Tele2 depends on the football teams playing there. It's still a huge arena bough, on a par with Parken in 2001. A return to Globen would be my personal shout.

Sandviken and Linkoping won't have a chance. The host city needs infrastructure such as hotels and they simply don't. Malmo is also unlikely. It's too soon since the previous Malmo show and many people found the venue a bit too safe. Agreed, Friends is too big for the scale of today's type of show. It's definitely between Tele2 and Scandinavium.

Agreed on all counts. Is it not correct to say that for the MelFest final that Friends is reduced to a half capacity of around 30,000?

It isn't going to be anywhere too big I feel. Christer Björkman has already suggested that it will be a 'cheap' production a la Malmo in 2013. I'd say Scandinavium stands the best chance.
