Her work on the 60th really proved her mettle. I think she'd be fine. A lot of the core fanbase want to see her back.

I don't think SVT will go for her though, especially considering they change the hosts for Melodifestivalen most years.

I wouldn't be surprised, although SVT might be a bit wary of hiring him. He took a break after Melodifestivalen 2008 because of exhaustion. Having said that, he is making a bit of a comeback with appearances on the Swedish version of The Office and a few other projects. Petra and Bjorn would be a great combo and give the show a similar feel to the 2011 Norway contest. I have a feeling it's going to be a big affair. The Malmo contest was criticised by some for being too modest and a bit underwhelming. If they do opt for a significant venue like the Friends Arena in Stockholm, they'll need to balance that with some personality and humour. Some people seem a bit worried that it's going back to Scandinavia, but I'm fairly confident this will be a good show. (Besides, I'm going next year and I LOVE Stockholm!)
Stedixon and tightrope78 gave kudos

I'm not bothered at all about it going back. It's fairly accepted that the Nordic countries are generally the best at putting on the show. Malmo, Copenhagen and Oslo were all fantastic producitons.

I think Gina Dirawi would be a great host for next year - a comedian/presenter/fashionisata who presented Melodifestivalen for two consecutive years (IIRC). Shes also got a contract with Universal to release her own music so maybe this would give her some good exposure.

I'm not keen on her, saw her present Melodifestivalen and don't rate her at all. no real personality.

Have to disagree. Thought she was really quite funny. Quite like the Anna Gina show too... She plays on very heavy irony though.

I think SVT have quite a decent selection to chose from :

Måns was a great host of Allsång and Melodifestivalen.
Sarah Dawn Finer was also a great host of Allsång, and her alter-ego Lynda Woodruff is also a fan favourite.
Danny Saucedo was far better than people were expecting at MF. I don't see him as a solo presenter, but as part of a double or triple he could be good.

Björn Gustafsson would be a bit of an outside bet for me. Not sure his voting schtick a few years ago went down that well. If people suggest Björn then Filip&Fredrik could also be contenders. Think I'd pay money to watch that.

If they think they need a more experienced presenter, then David Hellenius would be an interesting choice - though think he may be sewn up to TV4. He presented Idol and now presents the Swedish version of Strictly. He's an experienced presenter (he's won the Kristallen for best TV presenter 3 times) but also a comedian.

Petra should be involved at some point, but not host (she didn't really cope with the voting as well as she could have done, Alice and Mirjam did slightly better). Candidates for the hosting gig range from this year's winner Mans, to Gina Dinari and Sarah Dawn Finer.

Yep - I wouldn't bet against Måns or Lynda... I mean Sarah.

Looking forward to this. Sweden put on the best shows. Really hope Petra Mede returns as host. They need to pace it up a bit though - nearly 4 hours tonight.

Every year they put in a totally unrealistic figure for the voting, and then the show runs over. The UK is one of the only countries that follows the voting script and keeps it reasonably brisk.

I know it's tradition, but is there any need for a representative of each country to give out the votes, or could they not be in the arena to stop the satellite delay or have them pre record them and send them across?

Didn't notice much sat delay actually (though I'm sure there was one), the graphics are cleverly designed so that any delay is absorbed/hidden by the audience and commentators digesting the 1-7 scores. Think this has worked very well since it was introduced. When every country gave every mark it was every drawn out indeed.

I completely disagree that the voting could be done without spokespersons and/or live links - it's what makes the voting sequence interesting. And exciting when it's a close run thing like this year, where for a good part of the sequence the winner was any one of three countries. I don't doubt though that the results are sent electronically and frankly the result is known instantly by a few people at the top table Smile

What drags the whole thing is the ludicrous "What a wonderful show" nonsense that most countries seem to insist on relaying as part of their turn. Time was when you simply said "Hello xxx, this is Brussels calling with the votes of the Belgian jury..." Colin Berry used to go off script slightly by adding "BBC London calling" ... But that was about it.
