I'm inclined to agree with you. If the BBC suddenly faced the prospect of having their grand final with no UK interest and the huge audience drop that would follow, they'd seriously rethink their approach.

That said, look how many times Ireland have failed to qualify? Their fall from grace is undoubtedly more spectacular than even ours.

I thought the set (well, it really extended across much of the arena) was amazing. The lighting effects were excellent, and ORF produced a very slick programme, despite 3 hiccups with satellite links during the scoring process.

It's a shame they felt the need for 4 presenters. That was rather overkill, two is enough.

Would a group like One Direction get many points or One Direction themselves?

Keep saying it drop Norton, make it serious it'll put off some people yes, but the impact on others would be appreciated. Give the comms back to Paddy O'Connell too. You can have fun without being derogatory and rude.

Why would anyone want a dry Jeremy Vine as commentator?

One is fine with a green room host if you get a strong enough person (cough: Petra!)

If you drop the funny commentary, you drop one of the main reasons people tune in to Eurovision in the first place. Of all the things to look at changing, surely the commentary style is the least of their worries

If you had watched the BBC4 documentary last night you would have saw that Graham Norton and Terry Wogan both LOVE Eurovision greatly. The irreverent, and slightly piss taking, attitude is similar throughout much of Europe i.e. Sweden!

The show was good and really happy with the winner. The song is stuck in my head and I sure it will be in the top 20 if not top 10 in the chart. A part from the music I thought the show presentation was not sharp enough. Felt like we were in rehearsal. For the 60th it was meant to be a bit special and in the end did not feel as good as last year. It was a shame. Also to many hosts and if your going to have that meant then use them! And I entry was not good. I really want us to try one year. That way once we have a top act that has the support of the uk we can say it's a fix. This year did not prove that. Anyway night all. Off to listen to Sweden again. *cough*

Wasn't the best production, no. At least we now know we are in for a slicker show next year.

Proof again that people vote on the song, not the politics. The top 6 were clearly the best 6 songs of the night and Russia picking up votes from the West but not getting top marks from their neighbours showed political voting is just a myth.

Yes forget politics. The BBC is our biggest barrier to any form of success in this contest. They completely miss the mood and put out irrelevant songs year after year.

Most knew that on first listen of Electro Velvet that it was a turkey. Apart from the BBC. The selection process should be put out to tender.

Agreed! Russia, despite wanting to kill everyone, managed a second. It's like when Jemini got blamed on the Iraq war. Bollocks, it was out of tune!
