I think this is partially because Europe doesn't share a single, common, sense-of-humour. I get the feeling that the UK has more in common with the Nordic countries in this regard than many others in Europe, possibly because they speak excellent English and watch UK and American comedies in the native language.

Certainly the ESC in Malmö 2013 was a lot better than most on that front.

Still not sure whether to take the earlier quoted 'script' tweet seriously... I think there may be a level of irony there that some might be missing.

I see why the betting community is so behind it.

Electro Velvet were on earlier. It's been panned by the critics.

Whilst Electro Velvet's song is different from the UK's previous efforts and certainly stands out, it has no chance of winning as it's just a little bit too "different", even by Eurovision standards!

BBC Radio 2's playlist in recent years has tended to feature the UK's Eurovision entry on its A list (20 plays/week) or B list (10 plays/week). Electro Velvet is on the C list this year, meaning they only have to play it 5 times this week, equivalent to less than 1 play per day. So even Radio 2 don't seem to like it much.

By "different" you mean crap.

When you look at their performance on the 60th anniversary concert the dancers behind seem so much more energetic. And they should use some elements of then live band performance - really emphasise the trombone slides and the walking guitar part towards the end. I appreciate there's only four backing people now , but more energy is needed before Saturday. Anyone know when their next rehearsal is?

It's the flaw that everyone pointed out the minute it was released. You can't pull off a Big Band style song with six people.

While I agree to a degree with you,!my point is that even if the four backing dancers / vocalists copied the dance from the 60th anniversary performance it would be a lot better.

Be interesting to hear how it sounds for real. The one element that would be tricky to do live was the multi-voice backing. With a max of 5 singers will be interesting.

Possibility of the SFs and Final getting a live YouTube feed this week. The welcome event tonight was live streamed that way in addition to the normal webpage service.
