Aren't there associate members from all over the world though? I think the difference with SBS is that they've shown the contest consistently for 30 years and sent commentary teams etc. Not all associate members do that (in fact I'm not sure many do?)

Though to be fair they haven't sent commentary teams of their own for a large chunk of the 30 years - historically they took the BBC or RTEs commentary until fairly recently.

However they have shown a real commitment to the contest - and being a country with a lot of European cultures represented though immigration throughout their non-Aboriginal history, they do really have a link to 'old Europe'.

It's still relegated to Red Button again though.

I wonder what they'll do following what I can only describe as an embarrassing situation last year.

It's not going to be the only play of it, though, there are months to go until the Contest. I don't know what was so embarrassing about last year, either, we didn't win but nobody expected us to win, and it was a nice enough song.

Point is that demoting the reveal to BBC Red Button, demeans the exercise. A reveal on The One Show would be reasonable given the lack of a live entertainment outlet. Subjecting the performer to live performance, rather some dingy pre-record would show his, her or their mettle too.

Massive own goal not to have the reveal as part of The Voice, in much the same way major launches happen on X Factor, where the Sunday show is now Top of the Pops in a new outfit.

The Voice doesn't go live until March 21st. The episode airing on the 7th was recorded in November.

Well, they'll do that as we get nearer the Contest. They revealed it on the red button last year but it was also played umpteen times on Radio 2 and Molly went on The Graham Norton Show and other programmes. It's hardly any worse than in previous years. When Sir Peter Waterman did the song it was revealed on a live show and it was bloody awful, that did far more to demean Eurovision that anything they've done in recent years.

The reveal should have been at the end of January anyway, hiding it away does nothing, especially considering the expense and prominence offered to other entrant reveals.

There should be a national final in all honesty. It's absurd that a Big Five country can't put on a show like Melodifestivalen.
