The time zone difference is the main problem, but i think we'll get Eurovision live in the early morning, with the addition prime-time delay, allowing for phone voting.

Isn't it normally shown live anyway?

Over in Australia you mean? It could have done, and then repeated again in primetime.

Eurovision has been shown live in Australia for years.

I'm confused I was under the impression that they didn't air it live and there was always complaints about it.

I thought last year they delayed it and aired SF1 on Friday, SF2 Saturday and the final on Sunday.

They do air them in primetime as you suggest but they also screen at least the final in the morning live as well.

Normally it's a delayed telecast, but this time i'll be shown live as well as the delayed primetime airing

Even if it's only a one time thing , why ??? We may as well call it WORLDVISON not EUROVISION.

I have just read the full article on the eurovision website http://www.eurovision.tv/page/news?id=australia_to_participate_in_the_2015_eurovision_song_contest
However if you look carefully it says that 'If Australia wins in 2015 , they will not be able to host the event , however they will be able to send another entry in 2016' . If Australia does win which is pretty likely (if you compare some of the australian talent to what the competition already has) they will be able to enter next year. That seems a bit unfair ??

How would you feel about winning, and then just getting shunted the year after.

Well , being told it was a "one off" then I would understand. I would be perfectly happy for them to be a 'permanent' contestant if it wasn't called Eurovision !

SBS has been an Associate Member of the EBU/Eurovision since 1979 so it's not as if they're new to the organisation. Extraordinary yes, but cause to be vilified definitely not.

Aren't there associate members from all over the world though? I think the difference with SBS is that they've shown the contest consistently for 30 years and sent commentary teams etc. Not all associate members do that (in fact I'm not sure many do?)
