Italy won the Junior event? That's a surprise!
Also the final list of 39 has been provisionally confirmed. But Greece and Bosnia-Herzegovina both can still be taken off that list.

Wow, that map really shows how far 'East' Junior Eurovision has become. It was not a huge success here in the UK ISTR, I found it slightly reminiscent of beauty contests somehow and frankly a bit creepy. How well does it rate in Sweden I wonder?

It only airs on a CBBC type channel there (as it does in the winning country Italy) so it gets around 100k which is decent for that kind of channel.

I think Spain will return next year, it managed to trend there on Saturday night and the EBU were apparently close to getting TVE back this year. The success of Italy could well pursuade them.

Sweden has a kind of love/hate thing with it. I think TV4 (the main commercial terrestrial channel) had it for a while, but it didn't rate, so SVT have it back again. It's actually produced at least one quite big name in Sweden - Ulrik Munther.

However there is, or has been, a Nordic Junior MelodiGrandPrix - which kind of sprung out of a feeling that JESC was a bit too 'high pressure' so SVT didn't enter JESC for quite a while, and instead went with JNMGP.

I think in the UK it has a slightly 'creepy' overtone - possibly influenced by our memories of the distinctly dubious "Minipops" from the early days of Channel Four. And we have a much more 'stage school' culture than some other countries - so would often end up with Bonnie Langfords if we weren't careful...

As a kids show, for kids (as SVT appear to treat it), I think there is a place for it. As a show aimed at adults - I'm not so sure... I think it isn't quite sure which it is?

Ulrik didn't come from JESC, he won the MGP event. The biggest name to represent Sweden is undoubtably Molly Sanden who's gone on to have a pretty successful career and is still Sweden's best placed entry.

Yes - my mistake re: Ulrik. And good point re: Molly.

Looks massively better than the PowerPoint one that they have used the past couple of years.

Are you mixing up the Eurovision network ident which is blue, and this which is basically sort of used by broadcastes during thier national finals which they can add their flag to?
