Not often. I think that one year the contest dates were rescheduled to avoid a weekend clash with a football final, but not sure how late on that was spotted.

It's the 60th, not the 60th anniversary. I hope they don't make the same mistake as The X Factor and Big Brother.

60th is Diamond though.

I'm not quite sure that it's that, that the confusion is over.

Point of order.

It is the 60th competition. It is NOT the 60th anniversary of the 1st ESC.
To illustrate:
In 1957 they held the 2nd competition on the 1st anniversary.

Semantically, it may be the Diamond Competition, but it won't be held on the Diamond anniversary.
