After watching that, it does seem like that that comment did throw her off her stride. I wonder if honestly she didn't know that was coming....

Really? Despite the fact that we didn't see her for at least 20+ seconds after the cheeky young man Eric Saade called her a MILF, you are saying that experienced presenter Petra Mede who herself had minutes earlier been singing about "titties" was thrown by the jokey comment? I think you may be projecting what you want to see on to the video. Watch it again, you are wrong.

Did Eric say it in rehearsal? If he did then maybe someone on the BBC team made the decision to cut the sound in the final, he did start with 'hashtag' which is a big indication of what was to come next.

I don't think he did....

It sounded very ad-libby...

It wasn't ad libbed.

The BBC Coverage did seem to be slightly delayed, but only by around 5 seconds, the only reason I can think of, as to why, was to synchronise the Red Button coverage between the Video and Radio Two sound for Ken Bruce's commentary.

The BBC do not add any additional delay to the main incoming programme sound and vision from Eurovision - though obviously there are encoding/decoding and circuit delays in the satellite link from site, and encoding/decoding delays for MPEG2/H264 transmission to the home (and satellite delays for Freesat/Sky)

The BBC delay Graham's commentary (which comes in almost instantly) so that it is in sync with the satellite delivered host feed. Similarly Red Button delay Ken Bruce's Radio 2 feed to match.

Sorry, was unclear - the BBC cut the sound. SVT played it in full (I had to load their stream up as my whole party wanted to know what Eric Saade had said!)

Whats odd is that the BBC coverage didn't seem to be delayed. Just checked this morning- on Radio 2 Ken Bruce was talking but you can just hear the comment in the background.

Sorry, I been up thread and can't work out what this comment was everyone is talking about ?

When Eric Saade was in the green room, he said something which was muted by the BBC. By I'm at a loss to as to how they muted it when it was 'Live'.

Just because something is live doesn't mean it isn't scripted. If you know what someone is going to say, and what they are going to say before, and you are good at your job you can do that.

Interesting news story today; Azerbeijan are to investigate why they didn't give Russia any points. This will probably fuel the fire when it comes to arguing its not really about the music in a lot of countries!

Very stylish, consistent and strong look IMO. Thought the butterflies in the postcards (which had a very realistic feel) were beautifully executed, and contrasted very nicely with the 'showbiz' butterflies used in the arena.

Loved the Larva animation at the top of the show as well.

This year's show was, I felt, much warmer than many years.

Azerbaijan seems to generate more than its fair share of Eurovision stories. A few years ago there were issues around Azerbaijani citizens who had phone voted for Armenia getting visits from the police (secret police?) as they traced the voting calls. Hardly in the spirit of the contest, but they were still allowed to host.

Be interesting to know whether the phone/SMS/app voting was manipulated or just the reporting of it. I suspect the latter as the former wouldn't also hit the juries?

There was quite a bit of acrimony towards Azerbaijan in the arena on Saturday night. I got the impression no one wanted to go back there next year!

Certainly I don't think any of the broadcasters did... It wasn't much fun by all accounts.

The UK really needs to rethink its policy regrading their Eurovision entries. That's three years in a row now that they've banked on big names from the past to represent us, and each time it's backfired spectacularly - admitttedly, Bonnie never stood a chance with her song.

Don't think finishing eleventh is "backfiring spectacularly". And Katrina and the Waves were down the dumper when we sent them.
