Didely Squit!
Wasn't the winner announced early to get the act to the Arena as the Green Room was in a separate arena next door and to save time etc?

Possibly- although they didn't do it during rehearsals. I thought it kind of undermined the final few countries voting, as if to say "these votes are pretty much redundant now". I know that it's kind of the case every year when the winner builds up a lead, but they've never drawn attention to it before.

I wondered if they were doing it because they were running over, but then realised they had to show voting results from all countries? Although you'd have thought the scenario would have come up during rehearsals.

It's possible they did it due to time- and the fact the green room was quite far from the main arena, still didn't really like it though. The fake voting in rehearsals tends to be quite evenly spread (as I mentioned a couple of pages back, they often deliberately do tie breaks). I wondered if Petra maybe made a mistake and they just went with it?

Excellent contest ... the winner announcement strange, but welcome, as it saved time from an already overrunning show.

Unless you are a scheduler for a European broadcaster, why does the over running bother you?

Hated the BBC Opt-out midway though.

I thought you were going to watch on a non-BBC stream? Or were you watching more than one screen? What did we miss when the BBC opted out?

Hopefully if the Voice doesn't get another series, they'll be a new format devised to find a potential winner.

Let's hope not. There is no way that could make interesting or entertaining television. A one-off programme would be palatable but to drag it out to several weeks would just be boring. There are enough singing and/or voting shows on television already. We really don't need any more.

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!

voted for Hungry No17 and its say France....... what is going on?

Maybe your ability to accurately press a button on a telephone keypad is on par with your ability to accurately press the right key on a computer keyboard. Sorry, just saying what we were all thinking. Anyway, you shouldn't vote. It is just throwing money away. You should have had a 15p bet on the winner instead. You would have achieved the same result.

I was there this evening. It was an electric atmosphere, one of the best things I've ever experienced. Loved it all, especially Petra!

Yes, one of the few years that an English language commentary wouldn't be missed I'd imagine, if at the venue rather than watching TV.

You miss the commentary during the voting, without the app it was near impossible to follow it. In a larger venue the voting would be chaos to follow. Have to say the voting was a bit shambling but Petra coped very well.

Did the BBC show Eric calling Petra a MILF?

They swiftly cut the sound for that bit, drawing more attention to it than if they'd just let it pass.

A quick click onto SVT online confirmed the censorship.

The BBC's treatment of the Eurovision song contest is disgusting and needs to change. Why do they opt out of the semi-finals if they haven't got anything worthwhile to opt to? Why opt out of the GRAND FINAL for some sloppy VT about Bonnie Tyler when we'd rather just watch the contest in full. Why not design some 'strobe warning' and 'no web app' astons that actually match the contest graphics and don't look sloppy?

Nice Eurovision ident at the end there, interesting the vote circuit feeds were all in SD 4:2:2 and they reused the same freqencies over and over again.

I think that's exactly why they did it. Slightly odd - with Petra's dress moment - but if they'd waited until the end they'd have been ridiculously over. The green room was so far away from the main arena it would have taken ages to get between the two, and been very eggy.

Did Petra speak any Swedish at all?

She said Smörgåsbord, that's Swedish. I don't recall much Swedish though.
