That's not strictly true is it? They also stick stuff in Glasgow and Cardiff.
Which is why I think the Millennium Stadium would be the first choice venue.
Ah but it's the BBC, they'd do what they do with everything and stick it at Salford.
Not that it's something to really be concerned by.

I'm guessing you won't be dancing to that one then?
I'm disgusted that Norway qualified as their song is one of the four songs I disliked the most last night, and didn't want in the final.

As I said before there is simply no chance of it being held in the Millennium Stadium as it far too big.
In other news here's the contest's favourite Loreen chocking on some of her dandruff during tonight's jury rehearsal, poor sod.
I think it's going to be a very close race between Spain and Sweden with Italy, Serbia and Russia also having a very decent shot at taking the top spot. Romania had a bit of a disaster during the jury rehearsal where she actually forgot some of the words and apparently didn't recover from it too well so that could well put them out of the running.

Well I generally didn't like the song, it contianed a load of nauseating trash, and the group's outfits weren't up to much either. The only good thing about it was the dance routine: moving around and arm movements, but remember it's not the dancing that matters, it's really a song contest.
Did anyone notice the introduction (that little ostinato gets repeated at further moments in the song); it sounded to me decidedly similar to a bit of the instrumental of Doctor and the Medics "Spirit In The Sky". Any possibility they' have sampled from "Spirit in the Sky", or is sampling against EBU rules?

Eurovision Song Contest 2012 Analysis
Here are all the 26 finalists, in alphabetical order (not order of performance):
Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, F.Y.R. Macedonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Norway, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom.
Now for the 16 countries who failed to reach the final, but which will still vote tonight:
Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Georgia, Israel, Latvia, Montenegro, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, The Netherlands.
Now let's look at some country groups:
Baltic States (Ex USSR)
IN: Estonia, Lithuania. OUT: Latvia.
Benelux
OUT: Belgium, The Netherlands (Luxembourg didn't enter yet again).
Nordic area
IN: Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden. OUT: Finland.
So Iceland and Denmark will surely give each other 12 points.
Greece and Cyprus
IN: Greece, Cyprus.
We all know what that means: Greece and Cyprus will automatically give each other 12 points.
Former Yugoslavia
IN: Bosnia & Herzegovina, F.Y.R. Macedonia, Serbia. OUT: Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia.
So Bosnia & Herzegovina and Serbia will almost certainly give each other 12 points. F.Y.R Macedonia will give Bosnia & Herzegovina and Serbia the top marks (10 and 12) Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia will give 8, 10 and 12 to the three ex-Yugoslav finalists.
Founding Seven
By this I mean the seven countries who appeared in the very first ESC in Lugano in 1956:
IN: France, Germany, Italy. OUT: Belgium, Netherlands. Switzerland. (Luxembourg didn't enter in 2012).
The above is also available in greater detail on my blog.

And not best quality but what marvellous opening shots of the 3 year old TVC "The Hollywood of the small screen":
Did the Beeb originate the show in 625 lines, or was it still 405 lines, upconverted to 625 for the rest of Europe ?
It was a full year before BBC 2 opened, so did the Beeb have enough 625 kit by then ?

Oddly - I thought the opposite. Last year's set was very bland for me - and incredibly flat - and the stage was such that the coverage was pretty dull and distancing. Prefer the more 'broken up' effect that this year's LED has, and the more versatile set areas, though the coverage hasn't blown me away... There have been some pretty amazing wire cam shots though.
Also in terms of camera work and direction nothing that has come close to the creativity seen in Petr Elfimov's 2009 performance in Russia (specifically the Segway/steady-cam shot).
Yep - though it was a pity the song was so bad... I really liked the Moscow staging - but the cost of it must have been mind blowing.
For me Norway did an amazing job in 2010 with their set. The only one in recent years that hasn't relied on acres of LED screen filled with video. The versatility of the physical setting (the various things that could hang gave the jibs and steadicams a lot more to work with), and the use of layered lighting and lots of it really made the contest feel fresh. Germany felt much flatter to me the following year. (But then Norway had three stonking presenters as well - the best since Sweden in 2000 IMO)
Also as much as I think Scott and Sara are good the BBC Three coverage has felt sloppy, at the end of one performance both presenters jump their cue at least twice.
Scott and Sara good? Really? Were we watching the same show? Actually we weren't - as I switched to SVT about half way through both contests... Edward and Gina were streets better.

Have to say the set hasn't done it for me this year, nowhere near as good as last year which was simple, clean and looked rather modern IMHO. This year it feels a little cluttered and over complicated.

I am very tempted to connect the Laptop up to the TV and watch SVT's version of the contest tonight, rather than Graham Norton too.
