That's a bit difficult when voting gets mentioned on stage by a presenter, also it's only 3 countries per semi that don't vote so it hardly seems worth producing a different version just for them
Err - none of the entries in the other semi-final can vote either, (and neither can the countries that take the show but can't enter - like Australia - though they do their own voting AIUI - and announce Australia's result at the end?) - it's a LOT more than 3 countries that can't.
Only the countries in each semi-final AND 3 of the 6 guaranteed final countries can vote in each semi-final.
However - on a show that complex, I wouldn't want to have to split the feeds... Having a main and a backup truck to do one show is tricky enough...

There must be a better way of doing the "Vote Now" "No you can't ignore them". Couldn't there be two streams - one for the voting countries and one for the non-votings ones, where the non-voters get an additional replay or something?

All the participants in EACH semi final vote plus 3 from the Big Five plus host. Therefore tonight's SF had 21 countries votes counted, as will Thursday's.

Is it a problem for any other channels across Europe though? Isn't the constant repeating of 'Do not vote' despite the fact that there is no phone number on screen just a UK/BBC thing that stems from Blue Peter giving their cat the wrong name?
I quite enjoyed it. It was nice to see something like this done differently. They could quite easily have got Jedward over to their presenting position and asked them the standard boring question and received the same incoherent answers, instead they had a bit of fun and spoke to them via a zoomed in camera and a mobile phone. Keeps it interesting.

Edit: ODG that Jedward phone call was cringeworthy.

In Swedish though?
It would have been nice to have seen the interval act on the BBC
SVT streets better... They have great commentators - witty in the right places, and they shut up when people are singing.

Relating to the earlier discussion about how other countries show the semifinals, I did some quick research about what channels the other "big 5" broadcasters show Eurovision on. I'd say the BBC are giving ESC the best treatment of them all, as they show both semifinals on the same channel (albeit not in HD).
Country: First semi / Second semi / Final
Germany: EinsFestival / Phoenix / Das Erste
France: Only online / France Ô / France 3
Spain: La 2 / Only online / La 1
Italy: Rai 5 / ? / Rai 2

To an extent I think it is, the lack of text voting here is a part of that whole phone vote 'scandal' of all those years ago.
I don't really see why it needs to be reiterated so much, it's not as if there's a phone number in the first place

But it didn't actually work very well, even after the rubbish start we could barely hear them and they could barely hear Sarah Cox.

What great insight did we miss?

Yes, they are pretty much the same! Very much to do with the fact that the same production company (from Hamburg, I think) are running it again this year. I believe they also worked in Olso, as well as Moscow and obviously Dusseldorf.
I think until the producer changes, the graphics won't change. I expect if a Big 5 country wins this year, which seems likely, they production company may change next year.
The graphics seem very much like an evolution from last year.

Exactly - it's the usual BBC treating viewers like absolute morons. Sadly though it all stems back to 2007 when TV companies didn't just hold their hands up to their own mistakes but also took responsibility for all viewer stupidity.

Yep... There is that I suppose...

Was very 'local' but quite a lot of fun.
