If Jedward represent Ireland, it would be a greater shame in European eyes than national bankrupcty.

I wonder if the prospect of the "Big Four" treatment has restimulated RAI's interest - I'm sure the BBC, France Television, TVE and NDR may appreciate the lessening of the financial burden if Italy return to the contest as part of a "Big Five"...

I'm sure they'd welcome RAI's return - but AIUI the licensing fee burden for the Big Four isn't THAT great. They haven't bankrolled the contest in recent years AIUI - that's been through sponsorship deals. They've just paid the larger chunks of the licensing fee.

Switzerland selects it's song and performer on Saturday 11th December 2010 in a live one off primetime show.

Someone on DS says that this year's final will be repeated on BBC HD on the 28th December. The BBC repeating Eurovision, is this a first (other than the semi finals on BBC3 later the same night)?

It'll be good if it's true, I'll see it in HD instead of SD. But digiguide doesn't say it is on BBC HD on the 28th Dec (maybe they will change the listings later on?).

Be interesting to see what they do with the phone voting? Wonder if they have a clean recording of the multilateral they could drop in for those sequences (so there is no voting phone number prefix on-screen just the song number from the incomong feed)

The BBC will probably do like ITV do for repeats of The X Factor etc: overlay a caption "This is a repeat, voting lines are now closed".

Not according to the Radio Times it isn't.

Great to have Italy back in the contest but I can easily see them storming out again in a huff if they don't get enough points!

I'm sure with San Marino's return it'll be 12 points to Italy.

That rules out an edition of Schlag Den Raab on Pro Sieben on the 14th May then... Very Happy
Actually I suspect Stefan will be the main live show male host - rather than get him to loon around in the ad break fillers and as green room interviewer.
On his Total TV chat show, if there is a guest from the US/UK/Australia, rather than getting the guest to wear an earpiece with a translator, he just conducts the interviews in perfect English, and assumes his viewers will follow the conversation as well.
