It probably does less well on a bank holiday weekend also.

2010: 5.59 million

I wonder why it was so down last year.
Because we had a truly appalling song and no promotion whatsoever.

I wonder why it was so down last year. Great turnaround though; perhaps stopping the public from choosing our performer for a change was the right plan after all!

Simple - Pete Waterman, an awful song and an absolute shambles of a selection show. The BBC didn't care about it last year, so neither did the viewers.

Good point there, people probably go away for a long weekend when it's a bank holiday weekend. Some keen ESC fans may have taken advantage of the bank holiday weekend, by going for a long weekend to Netherlands, France or Ireland last year, in order to be able to vote for Josh Dubovie from there. Obviously their viewing of the ESC final abroad would then have shown up on foreign viewing figures, not British viewing figures.

Because we had a truly appalling song and no promotion whatsoever.

Totally agree, "That Sounds Good To Me" didn't sound good to me. When I saw it on "Eurovision: Your Country Needs You!", I thought it was poor compared to "My Time" in 2009. Mind you, I thought there were worse songs in last year's ESC final, I thought it Josh Dubovie would finish 10th to 15th, not last.

It shouldn't, because albums have their own separate chart to singles / individual tracks. With adequate sales the official ESC 2011 album may well enter the official UK top 40 CD albums chart.

Why are you ignoring points directed at you, clearly needing a reply?

Well I felt it was time to change the record and stop people keeping on about how I wrote my ESC final review, and reply to someoene elses comment also relating to the ESC, i.e. sales of the official ESC album.

As for my dancing to selected songs, I did that to add to my enjoyment of the evening. Just like some Eurovision Song Contest fans who perhaps sang along to the BBC Red Button lyrics (after all, that’s what the sing-a-long version was there for). Do you really think I was the only Eurovision Song Contest viewer that evening dancing along to certain songs? I doubt it, somehow.

Having posted my dance videos on You Tube, I posted links to them here. I’m shocked that resulted in so much commotion, to the extent it was necessary to remove my links and other users’ spin-off remarks. I guess I created a rod for my own back by describing Ireland, Sweden, Estonia and Spain as adult kids’ Boogie Beebies big videos. I could have called them "dance along songs", but that would have sounded bland. Besides copying Jedward’s dance moves is the same principle as a young child copying Pete Hiller and the Boogie Bunch during a Boogie Beebies big video. The only difference is you aren’t taught how to do the dance beforehand in Eurovision.

I know Boogie Beebies itself is really aimed at four year olds, but consider this.

129 days from now (Friday 30 September 2011), I WILL be 4!
with an O on my back! Very Happy

Is there a breakdown country by country?

Jury voting is what many thought would assist us in the competition when reintroduced but it has really damaged our placing this year.

It's also odd considering my perception is the juries are there to make the competition more credible, yet the likes of Jedward and Italy have been given better scores by the juries!

I think if we get Elton John next year we are a dead cert to be in the top 3.

Jedward are entertaining. It is afterall a song contest, not a singing contest.

I have no grudge to bear with the lads and I think in terms of how well it did in the UK it was great to have them in the event this year. I'm just a little surprised they've got a better score from serious industry types than normal people though.
