Worryingly, still no catalogued Blu-Ray anywhere. Seems strange if promised that it's not listed yet.

I agree (assuming you mean this year's contest). I asked the Eurovision TV shop again a few days ago (on the 24th March) and they sent an email back the same day saying a similar thing that they said last time. What they said on 24th March:
"...Hereby we can inform you that this year we will also sell the contest on Blu-ray.

At this moment we have not enough information yet to put this on our site as soon as we have you can see it on our site.

So please stay in touch with our site..."

That was utterly brilliant television! The stage doors getting jammed, the drunken woman requesting some news reporter to play old Eurovision songs on the keyboard, Eurovision acts who didn't have a clue what was happening, security in the background holding back rowdy Ukrainians, oh it was great.

Any video around of that? Sounds hilarious! Very Happy

I've asked on DS because I seem to remember someone posted the after show parties on YouTube though I have a feeling they only had the 2003 show.

The BBC have uploaded the preview videos onto their YouTube page but for some reason have cut off Sweden's video the second before the glass smash:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YF3-Ep7zzI&feature=channel_video_title

But it's up in full on their website:

Health and safety? Or are they trying to keep the glass smash a surprise?

Has Eurovision ever had this many major sponsors?

www.eurovision.tv

Look at the top, there's five of them this year including an official mobile network which is a new one I think (official airline started last year IIRC). Clearly staging it in the most economically important European nation has got its benefits for the EBU! No doubt there's countless local sponsors as well. I remember during the ad breaks of the German NF there were loads of adverts with the ESC logo in them.

Not forgetting DHL sponsoring the Official Shop, with free international delivery this year.

EDIT

Does beg the question as to what would happen IF the UK won and had to host. I believe the show's budget, as passed on to participants. includes contributions from sponsors. This would put the BBC in a very sticky situation as they'd be expected to accept sponsorship or alternatively stump up funds to replace the sponsored funding. Realistically it'd have to be the latter which would be questioned by opponents of the Corporation and it's participation in the Contest.

Surely they could accept sponsorship as long as it wasn't featured on screen whatsoever (like it is now). I'd have thought they'd only run into problems if they pulled a Sports Personality of the Year 2007 again.

I remember Glasgow's tourist logo appeared on the background sheeting they have behind contestants in press conferences at the dance contest in 2008. I'd assume money exchanged hands for that to happen.

Suspect it wouldn't be quite as bad as you suggest. NRK have similar rules to the BBC on sponsorship ISTR - and they managed (with possibly a minor infraction on one of the semis?). (Didn't NRK have to blank the sponsor logo on the scoreboard the same way that the BBC do after the first semi?)

I think the BBC would be able to cope with event sponsorship, and sponsor support for location facilities etc. They might not be able to accept sponsorship for the TV coverage element - but even then there might be scope for it to be a 3rd party host broadcast operation... Stranger things have happened - and with the BBC facing huge cuts, I suspect in the remote event of the UK winning, a sensible approach would be taken.
