Sarah is doing the semi finals again.
Source? Her Twitter says otherwise.
Be interesting to see if they bother with the in-vision stuff on BBC Three - the first year or so it was pretty good - but I'm not really convinced it has been worth it more recently. Last year did we see Paddy much at all in-vision - it felt like it was mostly Sarah?
This came from BBC Eurovision's Twitter on 10th Feb "@justan00b Don't know the format of the BBC Three shows yet Nick. You'd prefer to see the interval acts, I take it?" So you never know, they might get rid of the in vision stuff. I hope so anyway. I'd much rather see them replace it with an extra show after Eastenders with all the stuff they'd usually have during the interval act as well as live coverage of the press conference with the final running orders but I think that's asking too much!
One think I don't understand is why they broadcast the two voting recaps during the semi we can't vote in but don't show the interval act. Can't they replace the useless voting recaps instead? Or at least one?
Was Paddy not in vision right at the very beginning in the minute before the show began or was that just Sarah?
I wonder if they'll just treat them like the final - Graham doing commentary (though he might be too expensive?) and possibly nothing in-vision?
Whilst the live in-vision stuff is pretty cheap to do - there are bookable EBU live facilities, and the BBC have to route the main multilateral through a gallery in London to mix in the commentary, add the voting graphics, and mask the sponsorship stuff (though there is more production staffing and they have, in the past, shot some VTs) - there is presumably a saving by ditching it.
A couple of years ago - when Sarah was on a sofa - the lighting, camera work etc. was dire and it didn't really add any value at all...
I think you're right - Paddy has appeared in-vision at the beginning most (all?) years - but at one point he was far more a co-presenter, rather than latterly where he was commentator and Sarah was presenter (and co-commentator)
2005 was the last time BBC Three did a proper after-show programme - from backstage and a tent outside the venue - and 2004 was the last time BBC Three really went big on it (with a series of programmes in the run-up)
Opting out of the interval stuff and ad-breaks is good some years (when the interval stuff has been dire) - but it was a shame last year, as NRK really worked hard on them and they were nicely produced little sequences.
