Glad that Eric won even though it was so obviously set up in his favour! Easily top 10, possibly having a shot at number 1. I was a little sad to see Sanna not do as well as she should have done with the televoters.

We'll still end up with the fewest votes.

No we won't.

Yep - good MF final this year. Lots of good songs. Disappointed for Linda and Sanna - but glad that Eric won, after not winning last year. (It had to be a Kempe or a G:Son song that won - MF isn't MF if one of them doesn't win!)

The question is - will he be able to use his breaking glass effect in Germany in May? Do hope so - without it the song isn't quite so impressive...

For me last year's MF Final was a better show - Christine and Måns were much better than Rickard and Marie - and the overall production was better. (Same goes for Andra Chansen - and if I'm honest the whole series) Although having Adam (?) give all 11 International Jury votes was quicker, it didn't work really... You need different people for each jury. I also missed the Swedish juries - the spokesperson for Stockholm last year was really funny.

Each year watching MF is strange for me (I've been a fan since 2003...) - as I have been learning Swedish for a couple of years now - and this year I was pretty much able to follow all of it without having to concentrate for the first time.

Anyway - roll on Düsseldorf.

Great song - seems everyone's on Gaga fever this year.

Slightly surprised at the somewhat same-y shooting script. Exceptionally dynamic there's no doubt, and nobody's complaining about those close-ups, but a bit more jib action other than 'collapsing' aerial shots wouldn't go amiss. It was just a little bit on the flat for me - especially with a dark stage.

That tracking and zooming out shot at 2.06 is stupendous! And the speedy audience jib work exhilarating.

Yeah, for some reason I've been totally unable to connect with these presenters even though they were clearly quite capable and were enjoying themselves. Perhaps it's because there weren't quite as many of those skits than there usually are. I also agree with the production being better last year, especially Andra Chansen. Last year they had this truly epictastic opening whereas this year was nothing in comparison.

Although having Adam (?) give all 11 International Jury votes was quicker, it didn't work really... You need different people for each jury.
That was really disappointing. I thought the only reason they had the San Marino jury was because Senit, who's been flogging herself all over Europe, was going to be presenting their results for a bit of extra promotion but evidently not. No idea why they went for San Marino and not Italy. The came up with some weird results as well!

Do you have any idea was Eric was away when he got his first 12 points? Someone on DS said they thought they heard that Eric had got some glass in his eye!

Speaking of sexy camera shots, I was a little disappointed that they got rid of this shot though I can sort of understand why as it almost didn't work out first time round.

You've got to love what those directors and camera operators are able to come up with each year. It's just beautiful to watch.

It worked better in the second performance in the heats - but it is a REALLY tricky shot to pull off, and the jeopardy probably isn't worth the result.

Yep - though this year felt a bit sub-par - or maybe last year was just exceptional (Having a great singer who is also a great presenter, a pretty funny comedian - Inget konstigt alls - who is also able to present pretty faultlesslessy - AND Dolph Lundgren - is a pretty tough act to follow).

***EDIT : Just watched a couple of bits of the 2010 Final back. I think I may have been a little charitable. 2010 is hugely better than 2011. Not to say 2011 is bad - it wasn't - it was great fun. It was a lot better than most similar British music shows - X Factor music production is just dull and workmanlike in comparison. It's just 2010 was a lot better. Tighter, more confident... Just better... ***

Definitely a lot more mistakes this year - though without knowing what was going on it is impossible to say whether they were vision mixing, direction or camera operator issues (or a mixture) Not sure if my Swedish is good enough to be a really fair judge - but Marie didn't really convince me as a presenter all the time. At times she was great - at other times a bit uncomfortable. It just didn't feel as confident as a show as the last few years.

For the first time I find myself saying that I enjoyed the opening number of the Norwegian final a LOT more than that of the Swedish one. NMPG had a really witty opening - Alexander Rybak did a really good job !

(And I love Nadia - and Erik's bit was suitably ironic!)

My, who knew Alexander was such a tall boy? Great performance.

Fabulous NKR opening sequence - good old family entertainment too.

Yep - well executed, ironic, witty, inclusive, entertaining and just plain funny.

Anne Rimmen, the main presenter of the NRK Melodi Grand Prix was really very good. I don't speak Norwegian, but understand quite a lot from my Swedish, and she was confident, witty and fluent - as far as I could tell.

And Per is .... Per!

Yep fully agreed - from what I could gather she appeared supremely professional and entertaining.

That's interesting re the BBC noggin - you learn something new every day. I wonder would Jonathan Bullen get the gig?

Jonathan Bullen's music direction polarises people in the industry...

Oh do go on...

Enjoy.

Sweet or salt?

Oh you're such a tease! I'd often suspected there was something simmering under the lid of that topic.

And definitely salt.

Or toffee when available.
