Also - with regards to Melodifestivalen, although I like the new graphic design they're using this year, I don't think the presentation and production have been quite as good as last year.

Andra Chansen last year had an amazing opening sequence, and the Dolph Lundgren sequences worked a lot better for me than the Peter Stormare stuff, and Christine Meltzer's stuff was pretty funny last year.

The interval performances this year have been interesting - and hearing Danse i Neon in English has been a highlight - but in comparison to last year it all seems a bit lower key.

On the other hand - there have been better songs this year - so I shouldn't complain!

In fact maybe I'm being a bit harsh - the SÄPO-style postcards in between (and little skits they've dropped in after the Direkt till Globen acts have been chosen) have been pretty good - though were totally absent this evening during Andra Chansen?


I wasn't so sure on the new Melodifestivalen logo until I saw what they did with it in the titles . . . .

but it seemed to work well. I liked the way they follwed it through with the graphics within the programme. Little bubbles and the "tinkling" sound used when they appeared.

My only disappointment is the diluting of the tune compared to . . . . .

When will we see the stage design for the main show? Don't they usually release a mock up of it sometime soon?

Yep - the new graphic look (when they get the phone vote numbers right...) is a significant improvement. The old look had lasted a long time (with subtle evolution along the way) - and I agree that diluting the tune is a shame.

And I wonder if the EBU will be revising that 125 million figure now that four countries, especially Italy, are returning this year.

Sounds a bit 'Europop' I guess. If that's a good thing.

It sounds quite nice, although that doesn't seem to make much difference. We'll still end up with the fewest votes.

Jade Ewen came 5th only two years ago, and the song was quite nice but it wasn't amazing. This is a lot more 'Eurovision' esque so maybe we have a better chance.
