Shows how much attention the contest result has got, usually there'd have been a ticker headline when the programme ended on the BBC News website. Tonight the site's taken 41minutes to note the result.

BBC News - Entertainment

Also I note that it wasn't featured in the 'key attractions/announcement box' on the main BBC homepage throughout the programme.

The sound from the microphones sounded very poor and weak! Couldn't the BBC afford any decent microphones for this?? Rolling Eyes

they said this was from TVC - but it looks a fairly compact set, so it might not be a full scale TC1 production. Anyone know where it's coming from?

Apparently it was from TC1

In the end the song wasn't too bad and they picked the least worst singer. It'll be interesting to see how different it will be once Stock and Waterman take Josh away and work on it, it will undoubtedly change quite a bit between now and the big day

Just... appalling. What a laughing stock. I get the feeling this show began production at the beginning of this week. I feel sorry for the acts - they are clearly not prepared at all!

Very, very poor considering the hard work that went into it last year.

Though I must say the song isn't too bad, it needed a better vocalist though.

Last time was just as bad, because I remember they had exactly the same sound and picture problems. And the judging problems. And the public having to sift through the diarrhoea to find the turd, once all the gold had gone.

It was TC1 as you can see... this was taken 32 mins after they came off air....
They pre-recorded Sugababes, Alexander Rybeck and the Abba Medly prior to 7... then went live....

Yes, I didn't want to mention it but the handover to Rybeck seemed artificial... just a feeling I had. Now I know why!

Yep - that's quite normal though - most of the acts during Strictly etc. are recorded - for various reasons.

1. You don't have to do a quick band set and strike on-air - meaning you don't have to move pianos, drum kits, amp stacks, foldback speakers etc. in 30 seconds.
2. These pre-recorded performances are often played where you need everyone to be clear what is going on, who has won, what order you're taking cutaways etc. Much easier to do that when you're sitting on a pre-record than in the middle of a fast-cut live music sequence with the director, PA and vision mixer all heads down.

On Strictly they often cutaway from the pre-record at the end to live audience, judges, Bruce etc. and then cut back to the pre-record to see the acts appear to respond.

It was sheer embarrassment last night. Pete Waterman is stuck in 1989 and refuses to move.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj70WRdpFF8 - The fact Pete just wanted to go back and do what he did before says it all, unfortunately things change Pete.

Watched last night's car crash tv on the iplayer earlier - now watching Melodifestivalen live - it's like a different planet...!!! (and SVT's website is streaming better than iplayer was)

SVT really showing the BBC up - surely as the world renowed broadcaster the BBC is it could have done better.
