LOL @ how the look back at Pete's career was basically a look back at the biggest jokes in music history.
Their chart positions and sales figures weren't a joke though were they?
I don't think too much of them so far, the second act (the Rick Astley cover) was pretty good, the group and the first girl weren't up to much but the 17 year old Amy Winehouse look alike (the Donna Summer cover) was ok.
Quite a few technical mess ups with the programe though
Either Pete Waterman is deaf or there is a serious problem with the acoustics or something. All sounded pretty awful so far - but heck, they're only as good as the songs they're given. This show could be from the early 90's!
Much better seeing acts going in performing songs they've written themselves (or been written for them) and they are passionate about rather than be forced to sing some twenty year old drivel.
If that's not the route the BBC want to take they should put forward at least a choice of songs to the public (by different composers). Have the first show choose the singer, then a second show where that singer performers around six songs (as they did in the days of Sonia) for the viewer to choose.
They've really scrapped the bottom of the barrel for these acts, none of them sounded remotely in tune! And Pete looks totally disinterested.
I don't think he's too impressed by who the beeb picked, he was moaning on Five Live the other day about trying to get them to pronounce words like 'and' properly
Just... appalling. What a laughing stock. I get the feeling this show began production at the beginning of this week. I feel sorry for the acts - they are clearly not prepared at all!
