What's the mood in Ireland Telefís regarding the country's recent performance in the contest? Is it like it was here last year when there were many calls for the BBC to pull out of the contest and never take part again because the voting system was perceived to be biased against 'traditional' Eurovision countries?
This all despite the fact Scotland doesn't have its own national broadcaster, and as such cannot have its own membership of EBU-UER. Still, best not let logic get in the way of a bit of populist puffery, eh?!
Wales on the other hand....
That would be a death bell! Firstly as a individual country the Scots would have to enter the semi-finals and they would struggle, as would we collectively. Look at Ireland. Three wins in a row and since the semi-finals have hardly featured. For Scotland to assume they would even be in the final is a little ambiguous! I think it's another "we'd do a lot better without England" message. If that's the case fine. Come away from the rest of the UK, move out of your second home in Westminster and stop claiming expenses that the English pay taxes for and mind your own business about English affairs! I do get a bit cross about this type of thing. I think, in honesty, that due to Scotland being part of the United Kingdom, the EBU would not allow them to enter anyway! Another thing is that Scotland would never give the rest of the country points anyway!

So I see.
I think perhaps Scottish MPs have a greater need than those in, say, Berkshire, to have a second home close to Westminster.
But I'm delighted to learn that some 5 million Scots don't pay taxes themselves - as implied by your post above.
Hooray. I shall spend the equivalent on Whisky, deep fried mars bars and such and such.

Well, this is the arena on the day the crew started (March 31st). Lots of seats already in place.
But none on the floor and no stage either. Some other venues have both and thus the setup time will be less
The O2 has neither...
Big shows will always tour a stage with them, which meets their requirements (i.e. lifts, stairs, revolves, pits). Floor seating is then placed around those stages (or left out if they want a standing event). Putting an event on the with the size and requirements of Eurovision would almost certainly require the venue to have a large open floor space for them to put in a stage (LED screens weigh a lot, then there's tonnes of glass on top to make it look good on screen, so a lot of permenant stages would struggle with the weight), camera runs, FOH areas, green room, props areas and space for all the technical equipment which all needs to be on the floor.
Virtually every big tour these days goes through at least a month of pre-production in warehouses where they build and strike the set and rig over and over (as well as rehearse the whole show). By doing this they work out the most efficient manner of building the stage / rig and getting it in and out of lorries. Eurovision doesn't have this as it's a one off event, and the time taken to work out how to build it is better spent in the venue getting it to look good.

I've cooled down now! You will be pleased to know that our local MP in West Berkshire Richard Benyon claimed absolutely nothing in expenses and commutes to Parliament. I do believe that a Scot is probably more entitled to have accommodation provided in London as it is within the rules anyway! I just don't understand, and as you're a Scott Gavin (deliberate play on words there did you see what I did......? OK I need to get out more) perhaps you could offer some sort of explanation, is to why the Scots are so against (at least that's the perception of media) being associated with England and the rest of the UK especially in a matter of Eurovision. Is it merely a something about nothing affair or is there real demand for it? I also concede with tail between legs that of course Scots pay taxes so don't get drunk on whisky!

It is, as you correctly surmised, a media perception that we all feel that way. You'd read something entirely different (and no less valid) on the Scottish Labour party's site, not to mention the Scottish Conservative & Unionist party's site.
We're a broad church here in Scotland.
Personally I don't discriminate.
By that I mean I would shag Scots, English, the Norwegian Eurovision winner, as well as one of the backing dancers from the Moldovian entry.
I think that even a purpose-built concert venue will need at least a month booked out to host the contest. With the amount of rehearsal required for 40+ music numbers and three interval acts AND the requirement to rig a purpose-built stage you simply can't do this thing quickly. (Eurovision has had purpose built staging for years. The volume of LED and the huge amount of glass - both of which weigh tonnes -preclude using existing staging - just as is the case with big touring shows. U2 bought the 2005 Kyiv stage ISTR...)
The guys rigging the Moscow venue did hit the odd issue with rigging (ISTR that they discovered they needed more supports from the ceiling as the weightloading for the ones they originally planned to use was incorrectly specified) - but you have to have a timescale that will allow for this (as you will undoubtedly hit issues irrespective of venue).
My gut feeling is that it will be in the Telenor Arena.
