It's ridiculous to think that some people actually think Cyndi's dull rip-off of 'You Raise Me Up' could actually get us anywhere on the scoreboard.

Granted, she has a powerful voice, but it was completely wasted on this song, and in Eurovision.

I'm just so happy for David of Scooch - I'm good friends with him, and when I see him tomorrow I shall congratulate him - I think THAT's more likely to get us the votes .

Er only Making you mind up ! wil do it!

I think it should change to X factor type of Voting! where the go by the Most number of Phone votes:

That wouldn't work because it would put the larger countries at a disadvantage with fewer people eligible to vote for them.

Song 23: Armenia "Anytime you need" Hayko
Beautiful ballad, could come top ten. I sang along for it. No dance, just standing there, with occasional hand movements. It's a SONG contest, not a dance contest (that's debuting in September). Great verse/chorus structure, with a middle eight thrown in for good measure. I sang along with much of this. Again, why's the Armenian in Armenian script when it could be transliterated into Latin script?

Do you have a gun to your head pointed by the Eurovision guy when you write these

Whatever made you wonder that in response to my comment about Armenia's song Mr Just? The answer to your question is "No", I was just giving a comment on each song.

Memories of the evening...

I remember a time when the BBC wouldn't allow any advertising of any kind. I wonder to myself why I pay a licence fee, and have to watch advertising. It seemed to me when I paid my fee that I would have access to advertising-free programming. Now it seems not even the BBC can offer that safehaven.

Whoa, there's a surprise, SERBIA winnning with 268 points. From early on I got the impression they'd win.

I can't imagine the Serbian national broadcaster being capable of producing the next contest without outside help. I think they'll be calling on Prisma OB or the likes again like Ukraine did in 2005 - a good thing in my opinion - it means we'll have a very well-produced show next year like in 2005.

Unfortunately the last time we actually came second was in 1998; second bottom is more par for the course these days!

Interesting to note also that this year's bottom two - the UK and Ireland - were the top two exactly ten years ago! How the mighty have fallen...

Not so much a case of how the mighty have fallen but more of a case of how different the programme has become in the last 10 years
