Is this broadcast from Maidstone? I thought it was TV Centre.
Hmm, interesting songs. Two front runners for me, Cyndi and Scooch, it just depends what ...
a) the British public think will work for Eurovision and
b) whether a ballad would get ignored against bigger acts.
Its a tricky one, however the arguement is pointless as it all comes down to politics anyway.
Hawkins and Brown - Too ordinary
Brian Harvey - He can't sing and its boring,
Scooch - Stinks of Europop - may work (but is it dated in Europe now?)
Big Brovaz - may get the UK vote but won't work in Eurovision.
Liz McLarnon - too ordinary
Cyndi - Bringing back the ballad
Fearne Cotton - Oh sorry she's not an act..

I know Wogan has to pay his fee back, but considering it's airing in the weekend of Comic Relief they'd be better off sending the charity contirbution from voting there way surely rather than Children in Need!
Or how about a novel idea of just slashing the voting cost so no profit at all is made!

Tonight's MYMU broadcast is live from Maidstone Studios.
Scooch did it for me - not just 'cos I know David but because it made me SMILE.
Liz McLarnon was just too plain. Brian Harvey had a song which was written way too high for him. Big Bruvaz were just dull and full of (c)rap. Cyndi has an amazing voice, but it was a total rip-off of 'You Raise Me Up'. Hawkins & Brown was merely a vehicle for his high voice and, IMO, should not come anywhere near the top two.
Why can't we do it like the Swedes do?!

PS
I think we should stop arsing about and send Scooch with "Flying the Flag". It's camp, a rip-off of
Vengaboys
, upbeat, over-the-top, with a sprinkle of patriotism. Big Brovaz song is probably the best of the lot, but Rap and R'n'B tracks usually fall flat on their arse at Eurovision, probably because they aren't "white" enough.

Can't see any of them coming in the top 20, due to good ol' politics, but here's what I thought of the songs:
Liz McCarlen (sp?): Ordinary, and sounded a bit like 'Son of a Preacherman' in parts, IMO;
Brian Harvey: Too boring;
Big Brovaz: Though it was OK and can see them coming in the top 2, but we tried a rap last year;
Cyndi: Good ballard, but don't think its the kinda thing the great British public will go for;
Scooch: More cheese than a Fromagerie. Didn't like it;
Hawkins & Brown: Not sure about, I might be a 'grower'.

The Scooch song is very camp, and is an awful song, however, it did make me laugh. In terms of Eurovision, songs like that can work in Europe, and considering not a lot of Europeans speak English, they needs songs that they think a fun and different, because you can have a song with great lyrics but won't work for them as they can't understand a word.

Arrgh Fearne Cotton is so patronising. Another thing, what is with Mel Geidroyc's hat?
Here goes then...
First act out - Brian Harvey
Second out - Liz McClarnon
Last two sing off...
Cyndi
Scooch
Justin Hawkins not happy!
The British public choose wisely when it comes to Eurovision.
EDIT: A lot of editing going on in this post as breaking announcements happen, apologies.
