It is in HD for UK viewers for the first time this year. Last year's was also shot in HD (the spider cam was poor quality SD and stuck out like a very sore thumb) - but AFAIK it wasn't broadcast in this format.

Not sure. A few European broadcasters (SVT in Sweden?) had HD outlets for the World Cup. Not sure how far down the road the French are with their HD - they were pushing quite hard last year - though from memory that was TF1 not France Television who have the Eurovision rights.

Thats correct - it was only shot in HD last year for archive purposes, not for broadcast. Is the BBC the only broadcaster who will broadcast the show in HD this year?

I don't know, maybe I'm just being a fusspot here but it would be nice if Wogan's commentary was louder. But I suppose its acceptable against the huge crowd.
Looking forward to it though, only just less than a week to go!
Will the crowd be flying the flag for us?

Is it Friday when Terry will be presenting his Radio 2 show from Helsinki? He's always presented the show from a radio studio in the host country in the past at least a day or two before the Song Contest.
HC
Correct. Both Terry and Kenneth The Bruce will be in the YLE studios for their shows on both Thursday and Friday morning

I started watching the ESC Semi final just as the "winter to summer" gig was on, but have only just got my PC fired up and onto here.
For your information, I've bought the ESC 07 CD, and yesterday evening listened to all the semi finalists only twice each.
Story so far.
Bulgaria : Detested this song. No chance of getting through.
Israel : Detested this song also. A protest-cum-political song. That sort of song seldom does well. Don't want this through.
Cyprus : One of my most favoured songs of the lot (from hearing the CD yesterday). Hope this goes through, assuming Greece are watching and voting, they'll help them through (12 points guaranteed from Greece).
Belarus : another of my favourites of the semis. Lively song. Everytime I hear the words "Work your magic" within the song it makes me want to stomp. Please can this go through.
Iceland : Below par. Lively, but not my cup of tea. "Roller coaster in my brain" - despite me being a member of the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain, and throughly liking coasters at Flambards, Crealy Devon, Paultons and Alton Towers the last 2 years, no excuse for me to go for Iceland! Is this a cheap imitation of Lordi? No thanks, this won't go through.
