There has always been a 'choir' for Melodifestivalen, and this is another problem with MYMU - there is no 'set in stone' format, they change it unrecognisably every year. With MF you know what you'll get - damn good pop music with a slice of cheese on the side and a quality TV production.

Yep. I'm always impressed how the "MF choir" manage all their costume changes, and have the energy to perfom (and memories to remember) for the number of artists they provide backing support for. For those who don't know - the various MF entries are usually backed by a "house choir" of singers and dancers, some of whom perform in many entries in each show.

Did you notice this year how each of their costumes seemed to have a distinctly black theme to them?

They must keep the same basic clothes on but then only put something on, e.g. waistcoats?

Yep - I think I remember some combinations like that last year as well. One year there is a lot of black, the next year a lot of white!

Sometimes the theme stretches across the whole contest - like a strange Euro-meme. (It certainly did one year with almost everyone performing in white - a TV lighting director's nightmare...)

As I am well aware, yes, but I think in such a circumstance, not totally out of the question. (The EBU might have their rules, but they are not total heartless sods!)

Lets face it, we cannot expect to pick a song based on the theory that a plane might crash in May, or indeed anything else that might happen, and pick something "safe" as a deliberate response. Life would be WAY too boring if we did that. And way too PC as well.

I agree. Life isn't simple enough to worry about what might happen in the future! What a stupid thing to say!!

That Scooch song is so corny. Is it me or does anyone else think that when one of the girl singers says "pull the cord and blow" she sounds like Amanda Holden? Confused Laughing

Not sure about that but all four of them hit every branch of the ugly tree on the down to the ground... they make Lordi look stunning LOL!

Another thing i don't get about the song is, it goes "Flying the flag for you..."

Now, that works for MYMU, because they're flying the flag for the UK, but at the actual final they will be singing it to Europe, and they're not flying the flag for Europe.

Just a generally badly thought out song, and it deserves to get nil points.

Of course Eurovision songs are renowned for their well thought out, meaningful and prophetic lyrics.

It's a nationalist song as you can see from the union jacks on the trolleys at the end. You keep saying it's been badly thought out, but I don't know where you get that from. I think it's quite creative and catchy which is what Eurovision is.

Indeed - "Oh... your breasts are like swallows in nestling" springs to mind as a great Euro-lyric.

Of course there is also the issue that with some entries you don't realise they are singing in English until at least the second verse...

You mean its a patriotic song, unless there are neo-fascist undercurrents in Scooch's song that I haven't picked up on Wink All I can detect are single entendres, something like "something to suck while we land" or something equally camp!

It's at least catchy, so ought to do better than our (c)rap entry in 2006. Richard Madeley hyped Daz Sampson up last year, so it was bound to be sh*te. Sorry Richard, but you have the Ratner's touch Laughing
