Too right. If you've never seen Melodifestivalen, you've missed out on one of the best produced and best directed music performance and event bits of telly there is. As others have stated - some years it has made the Eurovision Song Contest look like amateur night.
It isn't the most popular programme of the year on Swedish telly for nothing (AIUI)
I also love Sweden as a country, and think it is fantastic that they embrace well produced, catchy pop music as part of their culture, rather than sneering at it.

It wasn't always the case. ABBA were more popular abroad than they were in Sweden, and in the 1970's there was a big socilaist movement that was opposed to pop music. SVT actually withdrew from the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest because of it.

Yep - absolutely, though how widespread the "anti-pop" movement I'm never sure. Was it a national feeling, or just a well orchestrated minority? Certanly since the 80s, and definitely the 90s, Sweden has really embraced pop music.
Whilst Abba were popular abroad - AIUI they were still pretty popular domestically as well - it wasn't as if they had UK number Ones but didn't have number Ones in Sweden...

So the BBC insist Terry isn't to blame, and I must agree.
If Terry announced the wrong name it was unfortunate but not unforgiveable. It was Fearne stepping in with her size tens and immediately correcting him that turned it into such a farce - you had two acts stood there not knowing who was going to Finland!
The best way to deal with the unfolding situation would have been to stop transmission for a couple of minutes - not literally, just throw the camera on the crowd so the floor manager could brief the presenters. Then Fearne, as the non-errant presenter, to announce in full apology mode:
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sorry but because of a mistake in the final results, the winner is NOT as declared a few moments ago. The actual winner of Making Your Mind Up 2007 is...Scooch! Congratulations Scooch - many, many apologies Cyndi, we're so very sorry."
Yes, that would have drawn more attention to the situation, but if you screw up you should be prepared to grovel!

Didn't strike me as if that would have helped. Struck me that the plan was for both Terry and Fearne to announce the winner in unison - which they pretty much did - except they thought different people had won, and Terry was louder. I don't think Fearne contradicted Terry on purpose, she just did her half of the "lets announce them together" bit.
By the time you got to that point - and had announced both as winners - you had to clarify immediately.
Whether Fearne did this because she was on open talkback and Terry was on switched, or because she is more used to listening to talkback than Terry (who hates earpieces), or maybe she just has better hearing. Whatever the case - I don't think she should be admonished for it - she did a very good job of rectifying the situation. Throwing a camera on an unlit audience, who were as dead as a dodo all night, and going "off script" when you don't know what is going on is likely to make a busy gallery and floor more chaotic, not less, and certainly wouldn't make things appear cleaner.
Fearne seemed to have to help Terry out earlier in the evening, when she suddenly walked to him when he was sat with John and Mel, to run through some information before they went into the thing that Terry had linked into too early.

If it did I think this song should have qualifed for MF! Markoolio first plays Christer Mörkman which takes the mick out of Christer Björkman who is the head of MF and represented Sweden in 1992 and finishing in their worst place in history.

The Linda and Markoolio track is definitely a mickey take - though it is also fab (and apparently was submitted to MF?)
Markoolio playing lots of Schlager/MF characters (Alexander Bard from BWO/Army of Lovers etc.) and ends with Carola's favourite stage prop (her wind machine) attacking Linda.

Is this adding to the phone-on saga? I knew when I first heard. Scooch. Obviously we've had it this year. I won't be voting (no prizes to gues why) but if I was I'd be voting for Ireland. They've always been very good entries.

Yeah right!
The best way would have been for them to announce it together again, with Terry announcing Scooch and Fearne Cyndi in an hilarious comedic confusion moment, before finally confirming the actual winner.
Still would have been a farce though, whatever happened. Wogan screwed up - simple!

The 'farce' had already happened by that time. With Fearne being right in the first place it was right that she should have been the one to correct the winner as soon as possible.

That's not as good as wat actually did happen, that would mean standing around in confusion for even longer than they did. Also it's all very easy for you to come up with that scenario several days later, but that wouldn't have been so easy to do during a live TV programme

Scandal number two - the other acts believe Scooch were miming and two backing singers - who were off-stage, were there to hit the notes:
