It was obvious that Britain wouldn't win, and countries would just stick to neighbouring/political voting.

Political voting like the UKs 'Ireland 8 points'!

What was the deal with these little boxes that kept appearing after the presenters' picture went away?

At one point, it remained on screen after the voting had finished and they had gone to the green room. There was just a little blue box floating on the screen!

Didn't Ireland give the UK 8 points as well?

The Eurovision really has become a joke.

That's the last time I support the contest.

Don't you say that every year?

Here is your answer to that one:

The BBC covered up the sponsor logos throughout the programme, along with the "digame.de" above the country number during the song recaps.

The UK's entry being a dreadful song didn't help.

I'm feeling a bit disillusioned this morning, the winner was the one entry I didn't want to win. I'm starting to wish they'd bring back juries, then we never would have seen that daft Finland entry win, which was all about the gimmickry and nothing to do with the song.

The UK should have done much better. I don't think the problem is so much that the UK is not liked, it's more that all the multitude of Eastern European are sticking together and awarding high points to each other, thus shoving the UK and other Western European countries down the bottom end of the table.

For example, the UK received votes from 10 countries, but most were low marks so we only managed 25 points. Croatia received votes from 7 countries, but since 4 of them were from its neighbours, who all gave high marks, they ended up with 56 points!

It's simple, as Wogan said, if you're not in the final, you shouldn't get to vote! Quite why Serbia-Montenegro were allowed to vote is beyond me.

Finland won on the account that the song wasn't pish, they wern't some stupid song that would send me to sleap on a whim and they had the gall to go out in costume.

You see, taking risks, going out of "play it safe" is what gets the points.
Finalnd deserved all 200+ Of it's points.

Indeed. I don't know how anyone expected it to win. It was awful, a middle-aged wite rapper surrounded by a chorus of high-pictched school kids. Daz hit his peak when he released Kung Fu Fighting 8 years ago, and that wasn't too great either.

Been watching Eurovision for about 10 years, and I'd say that ties with 2003 for the best contest I've seen. Some really good songs, funny moments and a good laugh! Well done Greece and Finland.

I actually enjoyed this year's show. Top marks to Greece for a great programme.

Let's face it the UK entries have been dire for many years now and this year's entry was a joke, although to his credit, Daz's performance was very good.

I think that despite the political voting, Finland won because the song was original. If the UK, France, Spain & Germany put some effort into it they may get somewhere. I mean look at Malta, Chiara almost won last year with a simple power ballad, sung from the heart. This year they offered us naff Europop which was sung out of tune. By the way, life hasn't been too kind to poor old Fab since the last time he sang for Malta. Too much pasta I think! Laughing

Carola from Sweden however is doing well, I think she's been under the knife LOL!
