It looks like the BBC will celebrating the run up to Eurovision this year.

Sir Terrence of Wogan presents 'Boom Bang A Bang: 50 years of Eurovision' which is airs on Tuesday 16th May. Then of course the Semi-final will air on BBC3 on Thursday 18th May, with the big show itself on Saturday.

Also, it seems Daz Simpson's song 'Teenage Life' may have chart success here in Britain and even has an 8/1 chance of winning this year! Shocked

And to think we only voted for it to piss off Europe! Laughing

I notice all the "artists" videos are up on the Radio 2 website and there's some shockers - Iceland's entry in particular! (and if you watch it, I'm guessing she won't be singing exactly the same first verse on the night Wink ) Denmark's is quite catchy in a Eurovision kinda way but I am looking forward to Daz's!

I've got the album and this year's event is going to be really awful.

Here's a line from Lithuania's "We Are The Winners" which is just repeated and repeated: We are the winners.... of Eurovision! Rolling Eyes

I'm dire hard fan but I must admit I am beginning to think that it's time to put the show to rest. Sad

I'm not sure Terry could cope with a pre-watershed "f***" after a couple of glasses of port.

It's just not eurovision.

Finland's is just hilarious! Happy metal music- whatever next?

Indeed - Silvia Night has apparently been warned that such words will not be acceptable in the Contest (Mind you - anybody else remember the BBC's censored version of the Aqua medley in Copenhagen 2001? The rest of Europe heard Barbie tell Ken to f*** off! We just got instrumental!)

Despite "The vote is in, I'll f***ing win" not being allowed by the EBU, Silvia's already said "I'll f***ing say what I f***ing want"

I sense another t.A.T.u myself - a huge fuss in the run-up and ends up doing and saying nothing to upset people.

Is Paddy O'Connell hosting on BBC3 this year? Theres nothing in the listings.

It was cringeworthy watching 'Wam' from I think the Glamrock Norweigian entry last year trying to get his leg over Julia Davis (Aussie comedian). Confused

Only if our rivals buck their ideas up and vote on merit, not politically.

Paddy is only commentating on Thursday. It is a shame that there is no 'Eurovision... A Little Bit More' with him this year straight after the final on BBC3.

I have to disagree there. This year has some of the best songs Eurovision has seen in years! But on the other hand...if they don't sort out that nasty neighbourly voting fiasco then half the countries in it will pull out and that will put the show to rest Wink .

I reckon the show will go when Terry does. Nowadays, its only because of Terry Wogan's witty commentary that its still on BBC One.

I expect it to be shunted to Five and commentated by someone like Richard Bacon in many years to come.

Indeed. Terry is the mainstay of the programme and to be honest there seems little purpose to the proceeding other than to hear Terry's 'take' on events.

The commentary I would have loved to hear would have been Christopher Price's back in 2002. He was all geared up for the special show on BBC3. Sadly, he died a month before the contest.
