Well there is always a first time for anything. The position in the contest does not determine who wins, it's how many friends you have in Europe.

Still, the last time we were in the second slot, in 2002, we came joint 3rd. So who knows?

I have to wonder why us brits are so arrogant that we seem to think we'll win everything anyway, from Eurovision through to Wimbledon, we seem to be convinced we'll win every last one. And when we don't, it's the biggest injustice on earth.

What an absolute load of tripe. Since when has anybody been arrogant and said we'll win Eurovision?

There's nothing wrong with being optimistic over this or Wimbledon, but I don't see any arrogance.

Oh come on!! It's a bit of fun. It's nice to win things. We don't win that much. I don't think there is any arrogance in being hopeful!

I also have no idea what you mean when you say it's the "biggest injustice on earth" when we don't win - I've never heard anyone say anything like that myself, and if anyone did express such a comment, they'd probably be joking.

It's a bit of fun that has been ruined by former Soviet nations block voting for each other, on a scale far greater than the Nordic countries and Cyprus/Greece ever did..
