Purple, the new logo is purple. Also, the ring of stars is gone with just the one star on the left.

But more than anything it looks rather 'eighties', if you ask me.

(Sorry about the vague description, but I doubt I'm allowed to actually upload it before Friday's launch.)

You've described it quite accurately. The single star is boxed to the left as you say. Although, i've seen the new logo in other colours, including a dark green so they maybe using a varied colour palette for stings/break bumpers - with a white text/box with transparent background DOG on screen (much like Sky Sports).

Also worth noting the font is very similar to the one currently in use, all in lowercase.

It's still very Eurosport.

I think it looks much more up to date, however we'll have to see how its executed on screen this Friday.

Something like this then?

It's similar, the star looks a bit more 'rounded' along the contours, is more chunky and is less slanted. The font is lowercase, rather than upper.

That looks decidedly uppercase to me!

I quite like it. It sounds like they're trying to show sports fans that they've changed - so moving away from a logo that's hardly altered since it was introduced at the start of the 1994 World Cup is a good way of doing that.

I can see either British Eurosport going FTA or in other countries it becoming a pay channel in time, for consistency.

Will there still be a visual British Eurosport brand?

Font looks very similar to UK number plates. Also had the branding "Eurosport 1" ever been used before?

Nope, the change from Eurosport to Eurosport 1 is new with this rebrand.
