Its only a bit different. People watch the channel for contact anyway so doesn't matter about a logo Confused

You're right.

What the hell are we all doing?

Everyone should close their TV Forum account and go elsewhere - TV presentation is a ridiculous topic, why are we discussing it?

Because we have nothing better to do in our spare time. Razz

Eurosport's presentation has never been very exciting, at least not since 1994. In fact the original 1989 ident was the flashist they ever had.

I always thought their presentation was pretty good, their mid-90's startup sequence was excellent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oK03yeZOug and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j09TeoWq-QA

Incidently the changeover between Quantum Home Shopping and Eurosport was a complicated affair, involving engineers in 3 places on a conference call switching uplinks at exactly the right time hence the big gap between the two in that second

Hey, if it ain't broke, why fix it? Eurosport's logo has always been a circle of stars with the word Eurosport written on it. Evolution is always better than revolution.

Er, yeah, 'clearly different' indeed! Rolling Eyes

And I'm pretty sure they re-launched a revision logo for the Olympic coverage in 2000, which had the 'E' of Eurosport in lower case. Sure they quietly changed it back to a capital E soon after.

Everyone seems to have forgotten about this logo...

That was the first logo that was used when Eurosport in the UK went to the 'British Eurosport' branding in the late 1990s. Wink

Oh dear, they're getting all "emotional":

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcasting/news/a312053/eurosport-gets-emotional-with-rebrand.html

Quote:
...
Les Telecreateurs was tasked with consolidating Eurosport's core brand values and "humanising the channel by connecting viewers to the action and output".

The company designed and filmed six new channel idents based around the six emotions of sport: Joy, Anger, Empathy, Anguish, Encouragement and Surprise.

The idents, which will be broadcast across the Eurosport network, feature 18 different sports, including basketball, football and tennis.

Also in the rebrand, the Eurosport logo has been refreshed in a new font, Klavika. The old blue stars have been replaced with white stars to give the logo a "sleeker and more elegant feel whilst retaining its identity as the logo for the true world of sport".

What immediately springs to mind when such ideals are mentioned?...

An 8-minute vid of all the branding, plus the idents and ad bumpers, along with all the usual branding waffle you expect:

All in all though looks very nice.

Very Impressive, such attention to the little details. Would like this level of thought brought to the BBC Channels!

I think it's a fantastic set of idents they've put together. Proof that it's possible to have the usual 'engaging emotions' marketing pap, but still produce a good and creative end result.

If only ITV had had a creative agency for the original 2006 rebrand who'd done more than just whacked together some fairly generic video clips as 'emotions', it could have gone so much better.
